Sad for us

Yeah, he could have helped.  Still looking for some defensive reinforcements.

I really thought Stanford was in good shape for Steiner and Mullings that would give the class Top 10-15 potential.  So much for that now it would seem.

RE: Class of 2020 - BobK - 07-02-2019

The big question as always did they get their apps in? I dunno but that’s my question now.
More for Steiner than Mullings

RE: Class of 2020 - Papa John - 07-02-2019

According to Rivals, here are the defensive players with offers--as ranked by Rivals--who have at least a medium interest level in Stanford:
#33 Noah Sewell (LB)
#42 Phillip Webb (LB)
#70 Lathan Ransom (DB)
#136 Jay Hardy (DE)
#181 BJ Ojulari (LB)
#210 Chris Thompson, Jr. (DB)
#235 Ayden Hector (DB)
UR Tuli Tuipulotu (DE)
UR Cullen Coleman (LB)
UR Nate Ritchie (DB)
UR Xavier Carlton (DE)
UR Ethan Pouncey (DB)
UR Omari Porter (DB)

I have no idea if this list is comprehensive, but it shows 0 DT, 3 DE, 4 LB and 6 DB. And we have commitments from DT Tobin Phillips and DB Brandon Jones. Perhaps those with greater recruiting knowledge could comment on the above specifics?

Cross everyone above Thompson off the list. Missing OLB Jared Ivey and recent DE offer AJ Beatty.

Hansen is #1 on my sh*t list. Reynolds has landed solid recruits, but not taking a true DL last cycle was a mistake almost as big as 1 OL in '18. (Not sure if that's his fault; dude should be blackmailing coach Anderson to get Pakola on the line.)

Oh, and this tells me just how garbage Rivals' rankings are. Lol.

RE: Class of 2020 - OutsiderFan - 07-02-2019

Pete Hansen has been on my sh*t list for two years.  He has done nothing to impress me. The previous ILB coach was much better.

RE: Class of 2020 - BobK - 07-02-2019

Looks good.
Coleman just announced us in his top 5

Kotulski went with coach Mason to Vandy and was promoted to DC. He was fired after a single season.

Is Stanford recruiting Coleman as an ILB? If there was ever a year to not recruit a position it would be OLB this one.

I'm pretty sure yes

Steiner is not as big a miss as Nakobe Dean.  Hansen was doubtful about Dean's abilities.  unreal (almost as bad as the 6 man ILB rotation).

Coleman has committed to Northwestern. Cross another defender off the list.

Oh we shall see Spiny. Never say never

RE: Class of 2020 - SamuelMcF - 07-07-2019

The last 2 classes of size 20+, '19 and '16, had 5 flips each. We've never had fewer than 3 in the past 5 classes.

RE: Class of 2020 - OutsiderFan - 07-18-2019

Porter has a nice offer list, but neither Alabama or Auburn offered? Why is that? Only two SEC offers total, but Michigan and Oregon, and frankly, Cal offers for defensive players are starting to become impressive.

Anyway, nice to get a recruit for the defense.

Yeah, I'll say.  Now we just need some defensive linemen and linebackers.

We now have 14 commits including McKee

Looks like Omari is the son of football coach Larry Porter, whose coaching resume follows:
1998--RB coach at Tennessee-Martin
1999-2001--RB coach at Arkansas State
2002-04--RB coach at Oklahoma State
2005-09--RB coach at LSU
2010-11--head coach at Memphis
2012--RB coach at Arizona State
2013--RB coach at Texas
2014-16--RB coach at UNC
2017-present--TE/RB and special teams at Auburn

LP is especially acclaimed as a recruiter. Apparently his son did not meet the standards for the Alabama schools, but I am happy to welcome Omari to the Cardinal family!

RE: Class of 2020 - SamuelMcF - 07-22-2019

Josh Karty kicked a 67-yarder to secure his spot at the UA All-America Game. He hit a 70-yarder in camp last year. Dude has a rocket strapped to his leg. Will likely be our kickoff guy from day 1, and will kick FGs if Toner doesn't stay for his 5th year.
