I refuse to let the Class of 2020 thread drift. Other non-pinned ones, fine. But not this one.

We're now at 15 commits for the class, and I'm personally hoping for ~23. It's pretty simple to see how we get there, looking at class numbers (and not getting into the QB debate). 1 RB, 1-2 more OL, 2 more DL, 2 more LB, and 1-2 more DBs. The question now is how many of these guys are going to be primary targets versus plan B types. If we see mostly plan B's on D that worries me. Offense has clearly out-recruited defense recently. Lance can only do so much with the Jessies and Joes he has.

Oh, and remember our requisite 3+ flips every class.

Great job on providing a bit of discipline to this thread and for all the information you provide to the board about recruiting.  I really appreciate your posts, including both facts and opinions.  Thanks for taking the time to keep us ordinary fans informed.

Thank you! We get enough of the "walk down memory lane" threads elsewhere.

Can we see some projections of those final 8, Sam? Even a couple choices at each remaining spot perceived to be in line for a commit works, including potential flips.

Gee when a poster makes a judgement we can’t point out that maybe historical perspective is needed?

Since I used to argue with Mike Wallace I think I can handle this.

He can't do that to our pledges...

As I now rescue this thread from drift...

It looks like Stanford has a real shot at CB Ayden Hector based on what I'm gathering.

Read one assertion he is farm-bound and another saying it's a Stanford/UW battle.  The 247 CB shows one USC prediction, but that seems a bit outdated now.

Twitter feed shows 3.72 GPA.

Geaux Cardinal!

RE: Class of 2020 - SamuelMcF - 08-16-2019

He's a really thoughtful young man in interviews, and his older brother is at Stanford for undergrad. Would be a big stinger to miss out on him.

Top 6 (released a few weeks ago) are Stanford, USC, UW, Alabama, Oregon, Cal - but it's thought to really be down to the first 3.

A good sign from a FREE 247 article, when asked about upcoming visits:
"It will probably be tough to take five officials due to the timing, but I will probably make my decision before some officials are taken," said Hector. "With my minor hamstring strain this spring I wanted to take a time out and let it heal because we are about to have another long season that starts in August and end in December. Plus, it gave me time to focus on ACT, AP exams, finals and spring practice."

RE: Class of 2020 - BobK - 08-16-2019

Great to be talking recruiting again. So how about flips. Who do those here think we will end up getting of those committed elsewhere

No paywall Samuel lol. Me either :)

RE: Class of 2020 - Spiny_Norman - 08-17-2019

A nice article on WR commit John Humphreys and his very Stanford-connected family - https://www.latimes.com/sports/highschool/story/2019-08-13/high-school-football-preview-john-humphreys-corona-del-mar

RE: Class of 2020 - OutsiderFan - 08-20-2019

UW has received two CB commits the last two days. The path seems clear for Ayden Hector to commit to Stanford sooner than later.

They actually just had a third. Good look for us.

Looking for a nugget since there has been no recruiting news for a month? Stanford hosts 2 top prospects this weekend - Ayden Hector and Andrew Gentry.

i don't think we can get Gentry, but Hector sure would help our secondary.

A mammoth, late bloomer OT who has apparently gained 60 lbs (!!!) in the past year or two. Has received offers from Tennessee, UNC, Pitt, UVA, and ASU in September alone. And he's a shoo-in for admissions: 4.0 GPA, 1470 SAT, and 34 ACT.
