Any chance APB Michael Drennen II attends Big Visit?

Guy definitely has an impressive offer list. We are not one of his top choices, though.

A footnote to the recruiting commitment of EJ Smith - Barry Sanders deserves an assist.

Quote:During his career, Sanders was often compared to Dallas Cowboys running back Emmitt Smith, who would become the NFL’s all-time leading rusher. The two have become good friends in retirement and recently talked before Smith’s son, E.J., committed to play football at Stanford.

Sanders’ son committed to Stanford in 2012 and played three seasons for the Cardinal before transferring to Oklahoma State, his father’s alma mater. “Emmitt reached out and our two sons talked before he went to Stanford,” Sanders said. “It’s exciting for them that he has a chance to go to a great school like that. That’s all you want from your sons, to grow up and establish themselves in their own career. I’m proud of them.”

RE: Class of 2020 - Papa John - 01-27-2020

Any news from Big Visit? I don't see anything on the Rivals website (at least not the free part).

RE: Class of 2020 - SamuelMcF - 01-27-2020

Not really. Everyone is committed/signed except for OL James Pogorelc and LDS S Scotty Edwards. The "regular" (aka late) signing day is next week, Wednesday 2/5, so my guess is they'll wait til then to announce.

RE: Class of 2020 - SamuelMcF - 01-30-2020

Excellent. One hell of a recruiting class for coach Carberry.

RE: Class of 2020 - SamuelMcF - 01-31-2020

Now waiting on one more LDS commit and PWOs. Signing day is next Wed.

There’s our LDS commit

RE: Class of 2020 - Langdude - 02-05-2020

Hmm. Our lowest rated commit. Why the rush to sign an unimpressive prospect two years in advance when we would likely get a better recruit in the Class of 2022?

Staff may have a different rating than the recruiting services.

Shaw says he pays zero attention to the recruiting services, so (assuming you believe that) they very well might.

RE: Class of 2020 - OutsiderFan - 02-05-2020

Edwards is just a football player. In his highlight vids he plays S, CB, RB, and WR. Maybe he doesn’t test well, but he’s got decent speed, some quickness, isn’t afraid to hit, and has good instincts for what to do on the field. Most importantly, he plays with great passion and effort.

I don’t have an issue with giving him an offer. Is he planning to do the mission thing before enrolling?

RE: Class of 2020 - BobK - 02-05-2020

Yes the mission starts before Stanford so he’s our first 2022

Hmm trust a coach or a writer to decide who’s recruitable

RE: Class of 2020 - cardcrimson - 02-05-2020

Thanks. Thought I read somewhere that we were in the running for a four or five star late commit. . . .
