BobK, that list doesn't seem accurate. For one, per their own Twitter accounts, Logan Berzins, Max Kalny, Kiersten Lee and Anson Pulsiphere signed on December 18.

Or am I missing something?

They are walk-ons and don't really "sign" anything

Actually Sam some do just to be part of the crowd. But it’s not an LOI or anything relating to a football scholarship

So as Samuel says walk ons

PWO DL who had scholarship offers from Temple, Army, and UMass. Very happy about this one.

RE: Class of 2020 - BostonCard - 02-05-2020

Yes, a walk on D lineman is a win, especially one who eschewed a scholarship from another school.

Staff may have a different rating than the recruiting services.

Actually, though his 247 recruiting score is low, I was more alarmed by his offer list. But, yes, I do know that the coaches do not make their deliberations based on either. For instance, I seem to remember that Austin Hooper was not rated very highly. Maybe this kid is indeed a player.

247 ranked Hooper in its top 300 nationally as a DE.  247's composite ranking for him was #374 nationally.  on offers, depending on the service, 11 of 12 (no SC) or 8 of 12 Pac-12 offered him.  USB and NW were also other offers.

RE: Class of 2020 - CTcard - 02-06-2020

Stanford's recruiting practices, or at least how Stanford talks about prospects, appears to be particularly baffling to the recruiting services - perhaps to our own fans as well.

Stanford's official release lists a class of 26.
247 reports Stanford with a class of 25.
Rivals reports Stanford with a class of 17.

Because it's helpful to me to recap, from the 2020 Stanford Football Personnel thread, the class appears to have:
20 new scholarship players.
1 holdover scholarship player from 2018 due to mission (McKee)
5 walkons = Kalny (OG), Berzins ©, Lester (DT), Lee (OLB), Pulsipher (ILB)
1 scholarship headed to a mission = Edwards (S)

None of the listings of the new class include McKee, who will nonetheless be a "new-start" as of fall 2020.

- 247 seems to be missing Pulsipher from Stanford's list.
- Rivals seems to be missing Kennely, Gilman, Pogoreic, Edwards (whom they list, but not as signed) as well as Pulsipher, Lee, Berzins, Kalny, and Parsons. That first group are scholarship, the second group are four walkons and LS Parsons - though walkon Lester is listed.

---------------
And perhaps not quite on point in this thread, but I don't see a broad second-signing-day thread: the Pac-12 story of this recruiting cycle seems to be $C. On both Rivals and 247 they are listed as having only 13 recruits (not sure where they are versus scholarship limits), only two recruits 4 star or better, and ranked 10th (247) and 12th (Rivals) in the conference.
I have never seen an $C class ranked anywhere near this low, including during sanction years.

By the way, both of those services rank Stanford's class at #3 in the conference, #21 overall by 247 and #23 overall by Rivals. [Apparently the extra 8 bodies translated to 2 places in 247 versus Rivals.]

Perfect Ct Card. Although all the 5 walk ons are preferred walk ons. There could be more walk ons later

RE: Class of 2020 - SamuelMcF - 02-06-2020

Speaking of more walk-ons later...

RE: Class of 2020 - Phogge - 02-06-2020

Stunning offer list... College of Idaho and Whitworth.

Yesterday I was looking at the personnel chart and thinking that it was about time for a walk-on quarterback. And a walk-on fullback... turns out they just offered one of those, too.

Any chance he's related to Daniel?

Hopefully he won't be quoted as follows:
"I wouldn't want to join any football team that would have me as a member."

Some good athletes have gone to College of Idaho other than myself.  RC Owens and Elgin Baylor.  But I get your point.

No one is claiming he is the second coming of Andrew Luck or John Elway.

Thanks CompSci. I have a feeling that a Marx Brothers night would loosen up the gang. At least Slide and I would attend.

Richard.  He'll be right there waiting for his chance to play.
