ND's Wimbush headed to UCF as grad transfer - 82lsju - 01-15-2019

Wimbush will probably compete with UCF rising sophomore Darriel Mack Jr. for the starting job. It is unknown when Knights star quarterback McKenzie Milton, who threw for 2,663 yards with 25 touchdowns this past season, will be fully recovered from a devastating knee injury he suffered late in the 2018 season.

More unknowns:

Stanford going to a 4-3? Have three capable OLB’s and no ILB’s. Have no experienced FS. New punter. Have a flex TE and no other pass catching TE’s.

Doubts about a coach.

Bleak.

As opposed to this year, when we had an experienced FS, but he didn't play as well, particularly in run defense, and the angles he would take. Every year and every season, there are unknowns and question marks about every team. Not saying we are primed for a Rose Bowl season next year or something (though I would argue that the Pac-12 schedule favors us over both UW and Oregon, with us getting both teams at home). The question is whether we will have the personnel to capitalize on the odd year schedule.

Hmmm,

I seem to recall during UCF's bowl game that the near common knowledge discussion was that rehab would take a full year.   

Therefore Wimbush's transfer makes a lot of sense.   UCF is a good team with a one-year need for a QB.   

Not good for Stanford, but probably great for UCF and Wimbush.

That's what I remember also. The expectation was that Milton would redshirt in 2019.

That's what I remember also. The expectation was that Milton would redshirt in 2019.

this from Nov 27th would make me think it is unlikely he's back for the beginning of next season

However, a statement from the Milton family released on Tuesday through the Tampa General Hospital says that Milton is currently recovering from his injury. Although he sustained a damaged nerve in the process, the nerve remains intact. Additionally, blood flow through his right leg has been restored. Milton has yet to undergo reconstructive surgery for his knee, but that will be performed at a later date.

Doubts about the winningest coach in Stanford history?  Two time Rose Bowl champion. Three Pac-12 Championships.  Four NY6 bowl games.  Four Pac-12 North championships.  Bowl game in every season he's been a coach.  If that engenders doubts, then I want to doubt all of my coaches.
