I'm about 99 percent sure the phrase "going to trial" is misleading. The case is proceeding and there might be a trial date, but that does not really say much about the likelihood of an actual trial, given how the U.S. criminal justice system typically resolves cases with some kind of negotiated plea agreement before any trial takes place.
EDIT: Yeah, I think the LA Times gives a more precise description of what took place in court:
"A judge Wednesday ruled there is enough evidence for a former NFL player to stand trial on charges he made criminal threats online last year by posting an image of a shotgun and a reference to Harvard-Westlake, where he went to high school."

Yeah, I think this situation clearly would be best handled by some resolution other than a criminal trial.

I'd love to be on the jury. Not guilty. Have a nice day.

there's no excuse for Jonathan to have made that threat, but to try him on felony charges would be overzealous in my opinion.

Right you all were. Martin negotiated a plea deal whereby he is avoiding jail.
