MBB vs Cal - BobK - 03-07-2019

Very interesting that Sharma will be the only Sr honored. I thought surely Sheffield would be moving on

Only Pickens and Humphrey were honored last year. RS Jrs Travis and Cartwright were not.

Cal is the hot pick given the points.

Stanford is 3-2 ATS in games where favored by 10+:
Seattle -13 (won by 22)
Portland State -11.5 (won by 12)
Eastern Washington -13 (won by 16)
SJSU -17.5 (won by 5...this game was a flaming pile of dog poop)
Long Beach State -11 (won by 7)
Cal -11.5 (TBD)

I wouldn't blame bettors for taking the points given Cal's momentum against the Washington schools at Haas, but the game is at Maples...maybe surprisingly to some folks here, we're 10-3 at home.

(Yes, I realize this means we're complete garbage away.)

RE: MBB vs Cal - winflop - 03-07-2019

Any word on Davis' health/availability?

RE: MBB vs Cal - 76lsjumb - 03-07-2019

Down 19-2 after 7 minutes. Will someone here remind me why they think Haase is better than Dawkins?

RE: MBB vs Cal - CompSci87 - 03-07-2019

Why'd I pick this game to come to with my free ticket for being a football season ticket holder? Ugh.

Cal could put together 7 straight wins and go to the NCAA. They handled UW easily last week.

Stupid charge by Wills.

Haase forgot to tell the team what time the game was.

RE: MBB vs Cal - 76lsjumb - 03-07-2019

After 12 minutes— Connor Vanover 16, Stanford 8... and Vanover spent 3 of those minutes sitting on the bench! :-0

RE: MBB vs Cal - chrisk - 03-07-2019

Dawkins beat Cincy tonight. UCF is virtual lock for the Big Dance.

Haase’s chances are virtually nil. Who would have thought 2 weeks ago that Stanford’s chances were worse than Cal’s.

Another stupid charge, by Okpala.

Turnovers galore. Team is poorly coached in the basics.

RE: MBB vs Cal - Canalejas - 03-07-2019

Did one of our fans just cost us those 3 points at the buzzer by swatting the ball back toward the Cal players during a running clock?

RE: MBB vs Cal - 76lsjumb - 03-07-2019

Fans?  There are fans here?

BTW, we are now a combined 0-19 from 3-pt range in the first half of our last two games. I’m sure we would have been much better if we’d been playing at home. Wait, what...?

RE: MBB vs Cal - chrisk - 03-07-2019

Turnovers galore.

RE: MBB vs Cal - Canalejas - 03-07-2019

How can we still be this sloppy?

RE: MBB vs Cal - 76lsjumb - 03-07-2019

“Galore”? That’s being charitable...

If KZ goes to the NBA after this season, he will never be heard from again...

RE: MBB vs Cal - BostonCard - 03-07-2019

I’m starting to think Haase may not have been the answer.

I know Cal has improved from its earlier utterly awful self.  We don’t seem to have.

0-19 from 3

Now 0-20

Ref goes down

RE: MBB vs Cal - Phogge - 03-07-2019

Kate Paye should be named women’s coach and Tara should take over the men. It is high time for women in that role.

RE: MBB vs Cal - Papa John - 03-07-2019

Tough to be sanguine after that meltdown... missing our first 21 (!) three-point attempts is unreal. At home!

However, I would note that Stanford is 5-3 in conference with its regular starting lineup playing and 3-7 without (Daejon Davis was unavailable tonight). The bench is thin and tonight the absence of a quality point guard showed. Given how awful the rest of the conference is, if Davis is available for the Pac-12 tournament, I would not be surprised if we won a couple of games. I also would not be surprised if we were one-and-done for Las Vegas.

But I'm calling my shot: next year we will have a winning record in conference play and will be in the running for an NCAA tournament bid.

If not, I think I'm out. My 2 years for Haase is teetering on the edge of becoming next year or bust.
