Remember, this has nothing to do with the Turley situation (head athletic trainer =/= director of sports performance). And it should've happened a year ago.

from what i infer from the following 2013 article, it looks like Pass puts the long-term health of the athletes ahead of his own job security.
the article is about trainers butting heads with head coaches over safety issues, and discusses the consequences for trainers when they make a stand. it's accompanied by a photograph with a caption that reads in small print, "
Anthony Pass (right), who lost his job this year as head football trainer at the U. of Florida, tends to an injured player."
if this is true, then i will go out on a limb and say that we have hired a man with integrity.

I’ve always felt Stanford is more conservative with injuries than other programs, so if Pass is a guy good enough to be hired by historical football powers and is taking a job at Stanford it suggests Stanford is more in line with his values. I mean can’t imagine you would be paid more at Stanford, or your money wouldn’t go as far as it would Texas and Florida.

Thumbs up to integrity, and I presume he's very good at what he does. Glad to have poached him from a team that's trending up--Stanford must have presented a better value proposition. Maybe Duane Akina helped with the pitch ;)

No news that I could find online.
There had been some speculation that the injury-prone 49ers might consider Turley for their strength and conditioning vacancy:

But the 49ers went with different hires:
Quote:San Francisco fired head athletic trainer Jeff Ferguson and strength coach Ray Wright. A new position was created titled “Head of Player Health and Performance,” which was filled by Ben Peterson, 34, who brings with him an extensive background in sports science after spending the past two seasons with Philadelphia Flyers of the NHL.
Dustin Perry was hired to become the new head of strength and conditioning after working under Wright last season and Dustin Little, formerly of the Denver Broncos, will take over as head athletic trainer.
