OT: Giants v Dodgers, Madbum Zero Earned Runs Through Three. -

Unfortunately, his throwing error led to a five run third, including a grandslam by Cody Bellinger. Ironically, all considered unearned.
I had faith in the Giants season, but if Madbum pitches like this, the season will be a double disaster. No chance at the playoffs, and little value for him at the trade deadline.

Giants had a nice little comeback, down 6-2, scoring three runs in the top of the ninth, loading the bases with one out, and Pablo Sandoval grounded into a double play.
After six games (2-4) Giants are 21st in HRs (of 30), 24th in runs scored, 29th in walks, 6th in strikeouts, 24th in fielding (6 errors), but first in MLB in double plays. 3rd in ERA (without having played at Oracle yet) and 9th in WHIP.
They also got rid of OF Reed last night, traded Alen Hanson, Derek Law and Juan De Paula for OF Kevin Pillar. Pillar is a defensive whiz in CF. He's facing the same AL East to NL West transition that Longoria faced and found challenging. 15 HRs and 40 doubles last year, .252 BA, .708 OPS.

I hate the DH but the Giants could have their best power hitter play every day rather than every fifth game.
When November rolls around how is the team’s PR machine going to spin the Great Rebuild? Probably emphasize the new skipper.
And what is the length of Farhan’s leash if nothing he does works? Would the owners give Theo Epstein a twenty million dollar per year contract?

I think the PR machine will have to get going in July (or earlier) when the team will acknowledge the rebuilding effort and trade some of the established stars.
Farhan's leash should be pretty long. The Dodgers are absolutely crushing it, at every level, and he was an intimate part of that effort. We have to acknowledge the fact that Evans' reign of Error produced no pitching, hitting or outfielders, and all of our all-star infielders are old or hurt or both. Posey, Crawford, Longoria and Belt are all in the 31-33 age range, Panik is 28. All of the Giants' minor league teams except one finished last in their league. Farhan has a mountain to climb, hopefully team management and fans understand the depth of the challenge.

Giants are baseballs version of Groundhog Day. Especially throughout the first five innings when they do absolutely nothing offensively. Dodgers I am convinced have a very good pharmacist
