Baseball: UCLA on Farm to take on No. 2 Card -
Mr. Baseball - 04-03-2019
I am excited to see what the 19-3 Cardinal do in their first true test of the season.
Texas is a decent team; so too is Cal State Fullerton. But this is real.
Will the bats, which are coming around, respond? Will the team reduce its strike outs to create more scoring chances?
Will the starting pitching, which has been spotty the past two weeks, respond to the challenge?
What lineup will Coach Esquer trot out there? The current iteration is right handed dominant with only one lefty.
Is Pac 12 Network kicking itself for not having this on the schedule?
Let's go!!!

Given the relative strengths of the team, the likely outcome is 2-1,
The winner of two easily could be the team
that would win four in a seven game series.
If Dasch, Stowers, and Tawa stay on current form,
the offenses are hard to distinguish.
UCLA looks marginally stronger 1-4,
Stanford the stronger 5-8--
absurdly good if they're back to form.
Two terrific pitching staffs.
Stanford may be one deeper in the bullpen.
Stanford a bit stronger defense,
particularly with Handley.
(UCLA's starting catcher cannot hit,
usually gets replaced early unless
they think they can give away his at bat.)
Beck looks even up in his matchup,
Miller the better in his.
Palisch looks over matched.
Mora has been spectacular in relief
but there's no better bullpen in baseball than Stanfords.
Two terrific teams.
