WBB: Tara is 32 wins away.... -

....from breaking Pat Summit's all time wins record.
Last year we won 31 games. If we repeat that, Tara would tie Pat this year.
8 of the last 12 years we have won 32 or more games.
Could this be the year Tara becomes the winningest WBB coach of all time? It will be close.
Geno is 5 games behind Tara. If we have a poor year for some reason, he could pass her.

The BY has a 25-page thread tracking total wins by coach. Their consensus seems to be that the outlook isn't great for UConn this year and so Tara will probably pass Pat first. Of course, being UConn fans, they expect Geno to pass Tara before long, but probably not this season.

Too bad we can't credit Tara with the 60+ games the US team won in 1996 on the way to the Olympics -- and if Tara had not taken that year off, she would already have tied Pat or been almost there.

Plus we took a recruiting hit that year, which hurt us down the road.
