Stanford at the Little League World Series -
Griffins78 - 08-18-2019
Watched the Little League World Series today and saw there were a bunch of Stanford alums on the broadcast.
Julie Foudy, Dave Flemming, Kyle Peterson, Aaron Boone, and Jessica Mendoza.
They join Karl Ravech, Adnan Virk, Tim Kurkjian, David Ross, and Sebastian Salazar.
Pretty impressive representation.

The Umpire behind the plate in the early game, Virginia over Minny was Jamie Perez. He was the plate umpire for my last little league game, Sr Girls. Play at the plate big slide, Jamie says safe and a walk off win.

Boone, Duffy, Gallagher, Shoemaker, Shotz, Yada, Yada, Yada. As tough a college lineup as anybody could face. Not counting the skinny first baseman who hit timid rollers through the infield. And yet they couldn’t get it done in Omaha.

Last month I was one of the official scorekeepers for our local Little League All-Stars tournaments--district and sectional. We had the LLWS crew at two of the sectional games, as they are asked to work together prior to Williamsport to keep in practice. Of all the gin joints, they chose Santa Barbara to hone their craft... Jaime Perez happened to be the plate umpire for one of the games, but no controversies. He was a pleasure to work with.

Not for nothing, Stanford was well-repped on some of ESPN's broadcasts of the other Little League World Series Tournaments as well....yours truly on the play-by-play at the Softball World Series and the Intermediate World Series. Had a blast! Little League is a pretty cool product. Honored to be a part of it for another year.
If there's a World Series event in or near your town (the Intermediate World Series is in Livermore, BTW), you owe it to yourself to check it out and actually have fun at a sporting event for a change.
