ICYMI: David Shaw on The Jim Rome Show (9/5/19) -
CardinalSagehen - 09-06-2019
On leadership, Stanford's defense and running game vs. Northwestern, the team's unselfish identity, preparing for USC and their dynamic playmakers, KJ's injury, the program's sustained high expectations, how Shaw keeps perspective and avoids the head coaching "grind", and Shaw's views on Andrew Luck's decision.
This was an even clearer and more complete take on Andrew's decision than I heard from Shaw last weekend.

Thank you for this summary so that I don't have to listen to or see an image of Jim Rome.

Jim Everett should have clocked him.

Perhaps I am in the minority, but I like Rome. Maybe because I grew up in San Diego. I definitely like him more than Bill Simmons, who doesn’t seem to actually know about sports, except for basketball and Boston teams.

This interview reminds me of why I like David Shaw. He is so grounded and honest. We are really lucky to have him.

+1 million. I'd rather watch Skip Bayless for a week straight than ten seconds of Jim Rome.

It turns out that my uncle is Bayless’ Golf buddy. When they met, he had no idea who Bayless was (my uncle is simply not much of a sports fan), and that’s what Bayless was looking for. So they played a round and got to be friends. Apparently he is very different in person than his on air persona.
Still don’t really care for his on air persona, or the hot take culture that he and Rome are a part of.
