Three field goals? A FD, a TD, and a missed extra point? A TD, PAT, and safety?
Whatever: 9-0 at USF. (The rest of this post repeats what I said on the Sears Board for any double dippers)
9-0.
Ouch? Pretty day at the USF field, which is a nice looking venue. Seating is a bit high school - 8 row bleachers all along the western edge of the field, no seating on the east, but a sold out house. The big crowd (2500?) didn't help them much as we were up 1-0 in 1:50 or so (Cat from Goad and Haley), 2-0 at 10 minutes (Malatsky from Briede), 3-0 at 19 minutes (Goad from Briede and Haley), 4-0 at 23 (Cat), 5-0 at 49 (Briede from Haley), 6-0 at 50th (Cat who ran 2/3 of the field for us), 69th (Tran on PK based on a foul on her), 82nd (Maya Doms, her first in college), and 85th (Smith from Enge).
USF wanted to play offense and I have to kind of credit their coach, they played a high pressing line and kept trying to score even when the game was out of hand. They didn't pack the box, they kept working on their game. It made the score in this worse, but I suspect it will help them down the line. They had several real threats, and their #3 was fun to watch.
Cat now has 9 goals and 3 assists this year (in 5 matches) for 21 points. In 2017, she had 17 goals and 16 assists, for 50 points. In 2018, injury plagued, she had 14 goals and 8 assists for 36 points. So, at this point in her Stanford career - roughly 2.2 seasons - she has 40 goals, 27 assists, and 107 points. Perspective - for her Stanford career she is already #9 in points (Press has 183), #9 in goals (Press has 71), and tied for 9th in assists (Press has 41). BTW, just how GREAT was (and is) Christen Press? But her records may fall.
