Blogging with the Knights - Hank 91 - 09-13-2019

Interesting stuff here about a team with which I'm not too familiar.

Yeah, wasn’t aware their THIRD qb was in the mix this weekend. I’m hoping our D can prepare for the possibilities.

34-21 seems like a fair prediction, sadly.

Yes, it may seem fair. But, in reality, the Stanford team that shows up and plays is the team that dominated the Trojans for 20 minutes and built a 14 point lead. This time, however, Costello will lead the team to a solid victory over a team that is not used to losing. There will be Knight tears on the sidelines. Just saying . . .

Scott Frost burned the Stanford football program once again. Two decades ago he left the Farm for stardom at Oklahoma

didn't he go to Nebraska.......... ;)

Hank may have thought of Nebraska but typed Oklahoma because that is where current UCF coach Josh Heupel played.

Fun fact - Scott Frost who won a National Championship as a QB at Nebraska was replaced by Josh Heupel who won a National Championship as a QB at Oklahoma. And the UCF defensive coordinator Randy Shannon won a national championship in his playing days at Miami. Lots of rings in the coaches office.

Whatever happened to Steve Frost?

RE: Blogging with the Knights - Hank 91 - 09-14-2019

In addition to my Nebraska-Oklahoma error, there were some others, and they were all caught and mentioned by UCF fans on Twitter.
Somehow I had it in my head that they were the Golden Knights, something I blame more on the Las Vegas hockey team than the fact that they actually were the Golden Knights up until last decade. Adam, the gentleman who answered questions for me, kindly pointed this out, but my superficial editing eye missed two instances.

When I mentioned their undefeated season from 2017, I couldn't remember who had won the actual championship (UCF fans also didn't like that I used the adjective "actual"), so I Googled "ncaa football champions 2017." I didn't look past the result and wrote that Clemson had beaten Alabama. But Google had screwed me, sending the result of the NCAA football championship game played in 2017, not the one from January of 2018, which was Alabama beating Georgia. UCF fans caught this.

Also, I referred the team as Central Florida. Apparently they don't like this either.
All of this is to say that some of the UCF fans have a bit of an edge to them, which is completely understandable given what happened in 2017.
