I listened and appreciate your efforts at maintaining a relatively positive outlook for Stanford football. I agree with your perspective that Stanford's defense put on a respectable performance against Oregon. On offense I think the reason behind receivers not getting open is due to lack of pass protection from the OL.

Wasn't expecting that defensive showing from Stanford against Oregon. Hope that becomes closer to the norm than what we saw the two weeks prior. (minus the busted coverage that leads directly to a score, obviously...)
A lot of things go into getting recievers open: play design, pass protection, and the actual throw itself. There's probably a lot more to that list, but if one or more of those things aren't up to snuff, that makes it hard to get it done in the passing game. Have all of those three things worked together this year? With the possible exceptions of the first half vs. Northwestern and the first quarter at USC, it doesn't seem so, does it?

Good stuff as usual. I enjoyed Troy’s shout-out to the message board “hysteria”, which he tries to avoid immediately after games so that he can form his own views.
Troy, I think you might have missed Hamilton’s additional injury on the very last (meaningless) play of the game. You were probably on your way to get interviews. His ankle or lower-leg got seriously rolled-up from behind. Hamilton struggled to get up and walk off the field and looked to be in some real pain. Based on that, I’d guess he’s questionable for OSU.

Funny, and sadly true. You are either taking a knee or you had to play those guys.
Sarell went down on the 2nd or 3rd to last play, not the last one. Then I assume Miller came in to play RG and Hattis swung out to RT. I’m not sure we have any other healthy linemen that have played. And you don’t want to burn a game for a freshman that you might need for 4 games later, just to play a meaningless last series. You also don’t want KJ trying to pass behind a weaker line.
So you’re arguing for taking a knee, not playing other guys. And that certainly would have been reasonable. I think Shaw was trying to make a “we never give up” statement to his offense - it just didn’t work out.

I'm positive Shaw would get more grief for kneeling the game out.
