Embarrassing. Only four plus pages of comments for the in game thread of an away game!!! It's a win, in case no one noticed. Fair weather. Foul weather. Suck up or contrarian. At least be a part of the fan base. Our fan base. Contribute. SHEESH!

Thanks to Larry, I couldn’t see the game. But I can see the stats. Stanford really had no business winning based on what I can gather. Stanford continues to be a very poorly coached team that eked out a victory against the least talented roster in the PAC-12.
I will give props for the clever TD pass to Mills, who made a great catch, that is available as a highlight on ESPN. But just 350 total yards and allowing 500 is simply embarrassing for a program at the level David Shaw imagines Stanford being.

Come on OF, I'm one of the few that appreciate your comments. However, even I, with technology from the dark ages, was able to find a streaming site--you could have found something.
Happy for the win, really happy for Mills. Disappointed in the D.
That said and somewhat tangentially, I find it quite amusing that the country club to which Larry belongs, doesn't get the Pac-12 Network.

Weren’t you the guy who said good teams find a way to win?

That may have been me. . . .Perhaps I should have said, "better teams find a way to win."

To answer the original question, I am in Madrid and the game was on at 1 am CET. I tried to watch it though, but the Hotel’s Wi-Fi was too crappy to support streaming, and my meeting today started at 8:30.
Sounds like I missed: a win (which may be in short supply this year), four touchdowns and a field goal in nine possessions, a field goal to win with 1 second remaining on the clock, Shaw going for it on fourth and 1 at midfield, a TE pass to our QB, and a lot of bitching and moaning on this board.

Stanford won on a last second FG, giving up 500 yards to a team that missed 2 FGs, and itself only had 350 yards in spite of having better players at pretty much every position on the field.
This game was to decide the worst team in the conference and Stanford came very close to losing. A win is a win, but some wins demonstrate more losing is coming.
It really bothered me to see all the chirping on this board last week claiming Stanford receivers can’t get open, the insinuation being they lack talent needed to be effective. The issue was they weren’t getting accurate throws, but even more than that, the routes have been super easy to defend. Oregon is better than Oregon State, but there were many more plays to be made against Oregon with a healthy QB. Passing schemes that put more stress on defenses and get receivers open are sorely needed.
And no good team gives up 21 4th quarter points, especially to the worst team in the conference. Y’all can whistle past the graveyard. I’m not. Stanford is a program in decline. A last second FG is all that stands in the way of being the worst team in the PAC-12. Another year without big changes and a FG will no longer be enough to stave off the cellar. Stanford is doing less with more, the hallmark of bad coaching.
There are so many issues, it’s hardly a surprise the program is in such a precarious position.

29 points in the fourth quarter, 50 in the last 20 minutes, against a team that had been as offensively challenged as we are.
I do agree with you though that this team has lots of issues, on both offense and (especially) defense. I don’t, however, subscribe to the theory that it is in terminal decline.

The progam was supposedly in terminal decline in 2014, when we were 5 and 5 after ten games and seemed very offensively challenged.
We all know what happened the next year.

I watched the team very closely. They were gassed from about six minutes to go in the third quarter, and MAN were they tired in the entire fourth quarter.
I can't say whether the team is in shape or not, or what kind of shape they're in. But they died in the fourth quarter, much as they have died in previous fourth quarters this year.
I was thinking of Justin Skule, the rookie LT who took over for All-Pro Joe Staley on the 49ers last week. For three quarters his name was never mentioned and his man didn't beat him. Then, the fourth quarter. Three penalties in five plays. One hold, you could tell he was too tired to move his legs, and maybe that's to be expected for a guy who almost never gets in.
That was the sense that I got from Stanford last night, offense and defense. Their early defense was unbelievably tough. And then...lactic acid set in.

Good observations, Mick. Makes you wonder if the sport performance coaches in the AD completely abandoned all of Turley's methods, because while he was in charge, our injury rates seemed to be well below average, and we had the endurance to make our intellectualism brutal. We've gone from being strong as redwoods to fourth quarter weeping willows.

Great fun.
Felt like Stanford barely found out how to get out of the Escape Room in time.

That would make sense and also be a harbinger of doom.

We had injuries on Turley’s watch as well...more in the last couple of years of it. Things seem to have really gone to hell now, though.

Interesting that Alabama's had a bunch of injuries this year as well. Apparently they are starting four true freshmen in the front seven on D--will be interesting the impact when they finally play a team with a pulse.

Here is how Stanford has performed in Corvallis since 2009:
2009: OSU 38, LSJU 28
OSU finished the season 8-5
LSJU finished the season 8-5
2011: LSJU (11-2) 38, OSU (3-9) 13
2013: LSJU (11-3) 20, OSU (7-6) 12
2015: LSJU (12-2) 42, OSU (2-10) 24
2017: LSJU (9-5) 15, OSU (1-11) 14
2019: LSJU 31, OSU 28
Pac-12 road wins are hard to come by, especially for a team with so many injuries and so little depth and/or experience at key positions. And as bad as Stanford's defense was in the fourth quarter, OSU scored 36 vs Oklahoma State, 28 vs Hawaii and 45 vs Cal Poly (OK, that one doesn't really count). The point is that OSU has a decent offense.
I'm not close to giving up on David Shaw and company. Of course this year has been disappointing and it will be a struggle to make a bowl game, but I believe in a bright future for Stanford football with Shaw at the helm.

Defense was on field a whole lot second half. The inability to control the clock and pace by running the ball catches up to a team defensively. Especially one with little to no depth.
