It’s not going to happen for many different reasons, but just hypothetically, could a “retired” Masters student with a year of eligibility remaining return to play mid-season? (e.g., Nick Wilson) Or is there some sort of filing deadline?
I remember the Utah running back that had quit mid-season and came back later that season, but I’ve never heard of a retired 5th year player coming back.

Spoke with a former close to the program guy tonight and he is not one of the usual suspects. Can’t believe that the program has gone into “hibernation.” Blames Muir for not lighting a fire under Shaw who has grown stale. The grumbling is spreading.

My understanding was that Wilson felt the program didn't support him and the decision to leave was his. If true, I doubt he'd come back even if he could physically.
Muir shouldn't have to light a fire under Shaw after this season. If Muir does, that's a serious problem.

Somebody has to. Recruiting failures have torpedoed the OL. So if not lighting a fire what is the AD's job? Perhaps socializing with the elite in CTG?

On the depth chart I counted eleven freshman. Does this mean the other ten or so freshmen on the roster will have this season declared for them a redshirt year ?

Good for him. Jumbo athlete appetite and civilian lifestyle could be a dangerous combination.

Without knowing the extent of KJ's thumb injury it is hard to predict if or when he will again be Stanford's starting QB.
Compared to KJ, I think Mills has more of a fundamentally sound throwing motion and quicker release. Also, his passes seem to be tight spirals with excellent accuracy. It seems as though Mills mobility is about the same as KJ's, but I would like to see more Mills game time to better make this comparison.
On the plus side for KJ he plays with great passion, which is significant.

Hit open receivers regularly and guide the offense to more than 28 points to beat UW! He can do it.

Shaw must have a very low heart rate. I would love to see him get in somebody's face just one time. It could be a player, coach, Dolly, popcorn vendor, three year old Husky fan, a 102 year old grandmother, just anybody. He needs a small shot of Durkinism. The most passionless coach or manager since Clancy Sheehan in 1960. At least Clancy had an excuse. He had a daily hangover after drinking all night with Horace Stoneham and Hank Sauer.
