Tucked in at #3 is perfect, like running down the backstretch at Churchill Downs. Let the Ducks suffer the pressure and wear the target of being #1.
BTW, this might be the last preseason ranking below #1 Stanford WBB will see in a few years. :=)

It's good that we play a tough non-conference schedule because the Pac-12 is always so weak when ...
wait... what? The Pac-12 has 3 of the top 6 and 4 of the top 10 ?! Whoa...

It's delightful to see, but I'm a bit skeptical - we lost a second-team All-American in Smith and while we replace her with Jones and Belibi, I am skeptical that we should be climbing 4 spots from where we finished last year. Between Fingall's ACL recovery, the lack of clarity as to how quickly Belibi and Prechtel will adjust to the college game, and Carrington's foot issues (she was spotted in a boot this summer), I don't think we're an obvious #3 behind Oregon and Baylor. We have a lot of potential, but whether it all comes together will remain to be seen.
Also while I think UConn should be higher than 7 even this season, Marty, don't get your hopes up about future seasons - UConn's 2020 class is stacked and includes Paige Bueckers, who's probably the best high school recruit I've seen since Breanna Stewart. She looks like the second coming of Diana Taurasi. Plus they have Geno. UConn will be back in the hunt for #1 by 2021 at the latest.

Keep him, we have Tara. I'm going to savor watching our team take down UConn. Maybe not this season, but soon. :=)

Pretty clear that Belibi and Prechtel are learning fast, received praise, but probably won't be big factors until later in the season.
What I thought was most vivid was Tara's praise of Jump. Jump may be a bigger factor that we realized--earlier than we thought. "This is one of the best shooters ever here. She is unbelievable in drills. Her numbers are off the charts. Off the charts."
Anna Wilson got praise, and Jenna Brown has improved by "working on her shot." Yes--we seldom saw a jumpshot out of her last year. That is great news if she becomes a versatile offensive threat.
And all this before even getting to Haley Jones, who Tara praised as we would expect, discussing her versatility and advanced skills.
The one worry is that Tara complains about so many players being "dinged up" with minor injuries. Not a good way to start a season.

What has changed recently to allow practices so early? I thought that organized practice could not begin before October 15. But that appears to be old news.

Totally agree with 81 alum about the praise for Jump being very noteworthy. “Best ever” type words for a freshman are extremely high praise and we’ve had some great shooters over the years.
