Before next starts (other games) - BostonCard - 11-09-2019

Lots of blowouts out there, but Minnesota/Penn State is shaping up to being a good game, with the gophers leading 24-19 with firs and goal as we head into the fourth quarter.

RE: Before next starts (other games) - Austroturf - 11-09-2019

Golden Gophers score to go up 31-19 with 14 and change to go in the 4th quarter.

Maryland finally got on the board and now "only" trails Ohio State 52-7.

RE: Before next starts (other games) - BostonCard - 11-09-2019

Minnesota stops Penn State on fourth and goal on a nice defense of the fade route.  The Penn State WR was no JJ Arcega-Whiteside on the play.

BC

What’s your deal tOSU?

They were up 52-7 and kicked an onside kick.

I hope karma comes around to bite them in the butt.

Definitely a What's-Your-Deal moment.  Maybe they consider it a scrimmage now and are just trying things out.  It worked.

That highlight was from earlier, when they had just gone up 14-0.

Thanks cardcoug; that makes it somewhat better.

It’s Ohio State.  Right up there with USC Notre Dame and Oregon as my least favorite college football teams .

Love the golden gophers. I saw with that coach did with the kid that had something like 14 surgeries and four bouts  cancers. He had him hold for an extra point.   I’ve never seen a coach sobbing on the sidelines before.  Go Gophers.

It’s still absurd.

Yup. PJ Fleck is a very like able guy, and seems to have the Gophers in a good spot.

BC

Penn State scored to make it a 5 point game.

BC

Penn state drove to the 10 yard line, but then had an OPI and then threw an interception.  Ballgame.

Can’t say I’m bummed to see Franklin lose.

Only question is, does this increase the probability that he replaces Helton?

RE: Before next starts (other games) - BostonCard - 11-09-2019

TCU and Baylor are in overtime.  Go TCU!

BC

Darned, Baylor pulls it off in the third OT.

RE: Before next starts (other games) - BostonCard - 11-09-2019

LSU is up 33 - 13 after scoring two touchdowns in the last forty seconds in the half.

Fourth and three from midfield, trailing by 20 points in the second half, and Saban punted.

While Stanford's performance was atrocious today, Michigan State's fans probably suffered more.  The Spartans led 31-10 at the end of the 3rd quarter and managed to lose to Illinois 37-34.

There are interesting parallels between the state of Stanford's and MSU's football programs.  MSU's fans are all up in arms about where the program is, and there are very split opinions about their coach, Mark Dantonio.  He is the winningest coach in MSU history, has led them to three Big Ten championships, was twice selected Big Ten coach of the year, has managed one playoff performance and three BCS bowls (sounds kind of familiar).  Some fans think he has lost the program, others support him unfailingly and still others believe he needs to be more brutal with his coaching staff and fire some underperformers.  The Spartans, after starting 4-1 and ranked in the top 25 have now lost four in a row.  Today's performance will only add more fuel to the fire among the MSU faithful.

RE: Before next starts (other games) - BostonCard - 11-09-2019

The other one I’m sure has raised eyebrows is Pat Fitzgerald at Northwestern.  The wildcats are 1-8 (0-7 in the B1G), and have the ignominity of having lost to us.

This only a year out of winning thE B1G-West.

Crazy that the score in the Cal-WSU game is. 6-5 after one quarter, and no, it was not a safety.  Cal scored a touchdown after intercepting WSU.  The ensuing PAT was blocked and returned for a defensive 2-pt conversion.

Wazzu seems to be Cougin it again. #1 and #13 on their D are utterly useless.

RE: Before next starts (other games) - BostonCard - 11-09-2019

Yeah, Cal rediscovered their offense and held WSU to two touchdowns.

This has been a tough year for the Cougs. Why do I have this sinking feeling they may get well against us?
I'm always railing against the Negative Nellies, but now I do think there is a distinct possibility that we won't win another game this season.
Hopefully I'm just overreacting to the miserable performance yesterday.
