Beat a good Utah team in Utah just now 3-1. Plummer had a slow start then was awesome. Gray herself All American self
Fitzmorris with her back had a great game

Bob--
Plummer and McClure didn't have "slow" starts - they were godawful through the first set and a half.
At one point, Plummer had 1 kill and 4 errors in 14 attempts, for a -.214 hitting percentage. At the same point, McClure was something like 2 kills and 4 errors in 18 attempts, for a a sub -.100 percentage. Luckily, Gates and Fitz started well, but man, they were bad. A lot of it was Utah's block.
McClure never really did get going very well - I think Utah's block is just a bit too big for her.
But Plummer? Well, she started to use her non-traditional shots - the "jam" she's been working on, and feathering dinks over the block, and hitting sharp angle. She sort of turned it around at that point.
After that bad initial stretch, over the last two games - 23 kills and 5 errors on 34 swings. So she hit -.214 for the first set and a half, and .529 for the last two and a half.
That's, well, more like Plummer.
But as Bob said, brobdingnagian win. Especially with Baylor hanging on to beat Texas, you have to figure that's two #1 seeds locked up. So Stanford is fighting with Pitt, who plays in a conference without another team receiving votes, let alone ranked, and whoever wins the Big 10 - Wisconsin, Minnesota, or Nebraska. They pretty much need to win out to host a regional.
Thanks for turning it around. And congratulations to Hentz, who played her normal great match.

For much of the beginning of the match, Gray had more kills than Plummer. Jenna finished with 8 kills which is the same as what both our middles had combined! In the beginning, the offense other than Fitzmorris wasn't working and defense was getting tooled by Drews yet somehow we were able to remain in those sets through Gray's attacks and some really good serving runs from Formico and Wilson. Nice that the team can find ways to score when our traditional strengths (Plummer, blocking, Hentz's digs) aren't working so well.

we could look back at the end of the season on this game as a turning point. The quality of play between the first and last set, the shifting momentum, how the team worked together was so striking.
As a brobdingnagian Megan McClure fan I admit she had a really off match, but she still found lots of ways to contribute in the third and fourth sets in particular.
Jenna grays blocking and jousting ability is something to behold. It must be connected to her all American javelin ability in some way.
I love watching this team. I can’t wait for the tournament.

Hitting 529 for the last 2 1/2 sets is unreal. The OHer gets the out of systems balls the what can I do with this balls and Plummer hits at 529. In f real
