Will you sit in the rain for 3.5 hours to watch this team? -

Consider:
1) The current forecast for Saturday's game is, "High 52F. Winds SE at 15 to 25 mph. Chance of rain 90%. Rainfall around a quarter of an inch."
2) The game no longer carries bowl implications for us, and our season is mercifully coming to a close.
3) A couple of the players that I might have liked to see one last time aren't able to play.
4) We are massive underdogs and it could be a blowout, although somehow I don't expect it.
5) Domers will offer any price, so I could probably sell these tickets to pay for 30-50% of the cost of next year's season tickets.
6) My wife is bugging me to do something else on Saturday. (This might trump all other reasons, unfortunately.)
As a result of all of this, I am considering bailing on the game.
On the flip side, I saw this photo and felt
unable to resist one last game this season at Stanford Stadium, like a gambler or an addict that simply can't stop, even though he knows better.
Season Ticket Holders and other local fans - are you going to this game despite it all, or will you opt to watch from home, staying dry and emotionally removed after last week's agony?

Probably
Football is made to be played in the rain.

I am more excited about the two 3PM events on Friday and the potential slate of tournament events on 12/6, 12/7 and 12/8 in the Bay Area.
I expect the actual attendance on Saturday to be ~20,000. 8,000 Stanford fans and 12,000 Notre Dame fans.
Sold tickets will still be right up there around 44,000-48,000.

current plan is to be at the game (returning home via SJC at 8:30am that morning), the smarter half may skip the game if the rain is more than a drizzle.

We always spend Thanksgiving weekend with family, either in SoCal or AZ, so I can never make the ND game. I've actually seen the ND game more in South Bend (3x) than at Stanford (0). But I'll be rooting for us nevertheless. More power to you guys who sit through the rain, especially this year.

Yes.
My ticket is paid for.
The game is at 1 PM so it won’t be too cold.
My seats are lower bowl and just covered by the overhang.
Even if they weren’t, there are such things as Gore-Tex and ponchos.
As for the entire 3.5 hours - as long as the game doesn’t approach the 2003 contest.

You're delusional if you think Domer fans will "pay anything" for game tickets. Game tickets will be in abundance and selling for below face (probably well below face) prior to kickoff. Agree that 20-25K in the house is most likely amount, with well more than half rooting for ND.
Such is the state of Stanford football right now.

Nope but that decision was made long ago. I could either skip Big Game OR skip ND. I will be out of the area with family through the weekend.
Despite the loss on Saturday I think I made the right decision.

A bit of hyperbole there. But in 2017, I sold 4 general admission family plan tix for $400. That softened the blow of missing a good victory for my mother-in-law’s birthday. I know it was a different time, but we weren’t close to filling the stadium then, either. I didn’t expect the tix to fetch that price and they did.
Now I have better tix, albeit on the sunny side and near the visitors (never again - too much sun this season!), so I think they are sellable to zealous Domers for some sort of decent price.
I agree that as a savvy, knowledgeable buyer, one could snag tickets for next to nothing... and one could buy any seats and move anywhere.
My son has signed up for rain and we’re going to the game anyway, so it’s all moot!

My annual trip to campus came down to Big Game or UCLA. I chose UCLA. Yikes.
At least I got to show my niece and nephew the redwoods for the first time.

Good for him.
But I have to ask: has he also signed up for a 30 point beat down?

The forecast has enough uncertainty in it right now that maybe the rain will move to 1700 or later. In any case, I will be there. Ho long I stay will probably depend more on the weather than the score.

I will settle for a 20 point beat down of the Domers. Go Cardinal!

Me neither, but they were early by about three hours on the rain at the beginning of the week, so maybe they will be early on the one for Saturday also. We would need them to be way early, but it could happen. Watching Stanford play in the rain will not be a new experience.

Well, they say weather is a great equalizer, so maybe if it does rain the game won't be as much of a blowout as most people seem to be expecting.
