I think this may have been decided some time ago, but I only just saw it.

Interesting. So for Stanford given their two weeks off for dead week and finals we start league play late November
Wonder if this affects the women ?

I feel conflicted about this, especially since it looks like other conferences aren't doing the same.
Pros:
- An extra home game per year
- Increased SOS for all Pac-12 schools, since they're playing 2 more P5 teams than all others by default...may result in higher representation in postseason
- Each team only plays 2 conf opponents once instead of 4, so we're inching closer to a conference-wide round robin
Cons:
- Less of an opportunity to schedule quality OOC matchups
- Feels "meat grinder"-y
My guess is this results in OOC tournaments being the only quality OOC games we see, now that each team plays 2 more "quality" opponents.

I like the 20-game conference schedule, but I wish they would play the additional games January-March. That can be accomplished by playing both rivalry games home-away during the same week.

Would you consider the potential loss of 2 OOC cupcakes a pro or a con?

Teams by and large play a couple good OOC matchups before conference play, beyond the tournaments (Atlantis, Maui, the Hall of Fame Classic that we played in, etc). I'm not assuming the teams will lose 2 OOC cupcakes; I'm assuming the teams will give up good OOC matchups and keep all the cupcakes.

Wish we had three cupcakes all in our time zone. Hawaii, SJSU, then pick one.

That's easy. There are dozens of them. Hell, we've played a lot of them too: San Diego, Pacific, CSU Fullerton, Sacramento State, Portland State, Seattle, Eastern Washington...
Just take your pick from most of the teams in the WAC, MWC, Big Sky, Big West, etc.
San Francisco and Santa Clara are a step up from "cupcakes" but a great local draw.

But it is in mine. And I plan to be there for the Maui Invitational 2020 if we get there.

This change is a little perplexing, and has a guinea-pig experiment feel to it. This would make more sense if our conference were like the Big Ten or ACC with 14+ teams, but our 18-game schedule gives us a perfectly fine arrangement where we play one pair of schools at home only, another pair of schools away only and everyone else twice. Now in order to pack the extra games in they have to split each region's pairs in apparently arbitrary fashion. It looks like they're trying to figure out something new for after next season when we will have completed the double pentagram, or the "10-year cycle" as they call it.
