Parkinson Declares for NFL draft -

Quote:"I want to thank Stanford and all of my coaches for allowing me the opportunity to attend the best university in the world, while also playing for an amazing football program. I want to thank my coaches: Shaw, Turner, Alamar, Pritchard, BK and Carroll for pouring into my life these last three years. I would also like to thank the amazing support staff at Stanford. Most importantly, I would like to thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for his many blessings in my life.
To my brothers and teammates, I am so thankful for the bonds I have made with each of you and I am going to miss going to work with you guys everyday more than anything. I also want to thank my family for all of their constant love and support.
WIth that being said, I would like to announce that I am declaring for the 2020 NFL Draft. This decision was not an easy one, but after lots of thought and prayer with my family and loved ones, I believe this to be the best decision for me. I have been dreaming of playing in the NFL since I started playing football in the first grade and I could not be more excited to begin this new chapter."

At least they didn't redshirt him.
Redshirting at Stanford is on the verge of becoming extinct.

I think that is a good thing. . . .

Adeebo and Solomon Thomas were crazy redshirts. Each only played two seasons at Stanford and redshirted their frosh year when the positions they played had very little depth.

A lot can happen in the next eight months, but I’m having a hard time seeing more than 3-4 wins on the schedule next fall - W&M, Oregon State, Colorado and maybe BYU.
Let’s hope Haase’s club gives us something to cheer about this March. No offense to the non-revenue sports, but it’s really hard to be a fan when both football and men’s basketball are down.

Doesn’t block much, poor routes, not a real TE. Needs to put on muscle and get quicker. There are plenty of TE’s in this draft.

Agree on the wins for football, disagree on the last statement. The other sports are what make college sports so special. Competition for the sake of competition, of finding out who's best. That. Is what it is all about.

At least he stayed healthy, but I don’t think Parkinson does anything at an elite level. Maybe he will be slightly better than Dalton Schultz who I just can’t believe remains on the Cowboys roster. Nowhere near Austin Hooper, Zach Ertz, or Kaden Smith as a football player from my observations.

Fourth round at best, but I'm not sure he'd improve his draft position much with another year - especially if he returns to Stanford and still has the same coach.
I wish him luck and I hope that Fisk is our starter next year.

I wonder how high he'll go. I saw one service that had him as the #3 TE in the draft, and I saw one article -- written before the season -- that whispered he could go in the first round. Pro Football Network said 5th round. Mel Kiper said he was the 8th best TE in the draft.
He had a better year in 2018, when he had 16.7 ypc and 7 TDs. This past season, the numbers were 12.3 and just one TD. Did better with JJAW on the field.

If conventional wisdom is correct, the target is first or second round. Otherwise, return to school. It would appear that doesn't apply here, or that Parkinson got some real bad advice.

Did/will he graduate? If so, I can see it. If not, I dunno…. He should make it on a team, but it doesn't seem like the NFL will be the last job he ever needs...

Apparently, it's a weak TE class, so Parkinson might be drafted way higher in 2020 than he would in other years.

Normally I'd agree but I don't see where he's going to improve his draft position much by returning for another year. He is what he is. Could become a decent complementary player (i.e., when he's alongside an elite WR corps).
