Is Plummer the greatest team sport athlete in Stanford history in terms of personal and team accomplishments? Hard to imagine an individual being so dominant and driving more success in a team sport.
Makes me also wonder how the best players in program history stack up. Plummer is incredible, but has she had more better players around her than previous Stanford greats? Who are say the Top 5 players in program history?

True sport. My father-in-law, the UW fan, thinks it's dumb that I care about the non-football sports at Stanford. I'm so glad I do. As a fan, it doesn't get any more rewarding than to have watched this team win three National Championships in 4 years.

The entire class is pretty special, and obviously very close. Congrats to them all. The others weren't too shabby, either.
Regarding Kathryn, as the Wisconsin coach said before the third set, she's probably the most dominate non-All-American in the sport's history.

Before the third set (broadcast during the third set), he did say "in the history of our sport".
However, in a postgame soundbite he said "any sport".

Just from a pure ROI perspective, it's a much better deal to root for these teams! Just think of all the sporting joy we've gleaned from these championships and those of the other sports where we win more than our fair share of championships.
And I'm also curious where she stacks up with other all-time Stanford greats. I'd love to see a volleyball expert's ranking of the best players in Stanford's history. There's likely some recency bias at play here, but I also wouldn't be shocked if Plummer headed the all-time list. She's a 2-time national POY, a 2-time NCAA MOP, a former Freshman of the Year, and absent this injury, she would've been a 4-time All-American and a 4-time AVCA First Team member.
Logan Tom was my vintage, and she's gotta be on the list somewhere (she's the only other 2x national player of the year, I believe). Future historians might see that Plummer wasn't a 4x All-American or a 4x First Team member, but hopefully there is an asterisk that explains this season.

I'm partial to Folkl, because of her unbelievable freakish athleticism, as witnessed by the fact that she was an all American basketball player as well, and because she was one of the nicest, most humble, and most personable people I met at Stanford (we lived in the same dorm my senior year).
Plummer would almost certainly have been an all American this year had she qualified, and the Player of the Year if she hadn't been injured. She really is likely the best outside hitter in a long line of superb outside hitters at Stanford.
Next year will be a substantial drop-off, but we do bring back McClure, Campbell, and Kipp, which is a solid nucleus.

I have long believed Folkl to be the best all around Stanford athlete I've ever seen compete (and if she is not tops, she is right up there). Incredible talent, and a difference maker on both VB and BB courts - and that's true whether you rank her 1, or 3, or 5, or 10. But honestly, think it's hard to put 9 others in front of her.

One thing that was apparent in the tournament and especially the final against Wisconsin is that Plummer is amazing even hitting out of system sets. She will pound stuff from anywhere with authority. It was basically the story of the final; Wisconsin actually did a better job than we did getting us out of system, but it didn't seem to matter, mostly because of Plummer.

The final is being rebroadcast (I think on ESPN), I saw it while walking by.
By the way, the start of the second set really showcased Plummer's ability to slam out of system sets home. She really has an unbelievable capacity to kill all sorts of junk that is sent in her general direction. She will be missed.
