Couldn't ask for a better start. Defense forces a three and out. Offense drives for a TD and didn't even face a third down.

Witherspoon gift-wrapped the Vikings 7 points. Their entire drive was picking on him.

Amazing D. Great running game. Probably the shortest game in recent NFL playoff history--way less than three hours.
Hope the backs aren't hurt too severely. . . .

The niners defensive line is something else.

It tells you something that Solomon Thomas did not add value. Wow!

I wouldn't say no value - he had 3 tackles, 2 TFLs, and a sack. Point still stands, though - he's maybe 6th or so in the rotation. Insane.

What does he weigh now? I remember thinking he was somewhat undersized to be playing inside.
But yeah, and now they have Ford and Alexander back.
Lynch has to like how hard Jimmie Ward hits.

Man, Lamar Jackson and the Ravens look all out of sorts. 14-0 Titans was Not what I was expecting.

What the hell happened to Lamar Jackson and the Ravens?

Tennessee 28, Baltimore 12. Baltimore had 530 yards of total offense but three turnovers and four failed fourth down attempts.

Witherspoon was definitely getting torched. Good teams pick on him mercilessly. What are the odds that the Niners first pick is a cornerback in the 2020 draft?
Incidentally, the Niners have been consuming their seed corn, with respect to draft picks. In April, they'll just six picks. They have their own first round pick, but all the rest are fifth round or later:
Round 1 (own)
Round 5 (own)
Round 5 (via Broncos in Sanders trade)
Round 6 (own)
Round 7 (own)
Round 7 (via Lions in Eli Harold trade)
Interesting to watch Cousins and Garoppolo go head to head yesterday. The Niners went after Cousins, who didn't want to go to a team with such a long rebuild. And Cousins looked good. IMO, he outplayed Garoppolo; he certainly had a better quarterback rating yesterday. To me, Garoppolo is a top 10 QB, but not a top 5 QB.
Niners play the winner of today's Seattle at Green Bay next Sunday. I'd rather play the Packers. Since 2012, Seattle has a 4-3 advantage over Green Bay. What's interesting is that all seven games were won by the home team. Green Bay is a 4.5 point favorite today.

Thomas had arguably his best game of the season against Vikings. You’d like to see a Top 10 pick play more like Bosa, Armstead, and Buckner, but it is so clearly obvious Ford makes everyone better. And not to put too fine a point on it, but when that defense has all its starters it is elite, not just against other teams this season, but in NFL history.
Witherspoon has been atrocious since the last Rams game. He wasn’t beat on that TD yesterday as much as completely lost the ball. Funny how Stephon Diggs can only catch TDs in the playoffs when the CB completely butchers a simple coverage and isn’t really even beat. Before his injury Spoon was really good. Mosely has simply been better since and deserves to start.
The Ravens looked like a team that had heard everyone tell them how great they were for three months, including getting a completely outrageous 12 Pro Bowl selections. But hey, at least they will be well rested and many Ravens will have one more game to play!
Tennessee made every big play in that game. I knew the Ravens were in trouble when they went for it on 4th down at their own 45. It was too early in the game (and scoreless) to do that and it was just inviting a game changing momentum shift that you just can’t give to an underdog looking for confidence in your home stadium.

This is something that I've been thinking about that offense all year and virtually never saw talked about: it just can't come back from a big deficit. They've done a very good job playing to Lamar's strengths and hiding his weaknesses, but when you're offense is predicated upon running the ball, throws to tight ends, and the occasional bomb off a busted coverage on play action or breakaway run by a very fast QB, you can't
intentionally score quickly. Couple that with an attacking defense designed to force turnovers and large negative plays, but that's not all that sound otherwise, and you're just screwed against a powerful running team that builds an early lead. During their winning streak Baltimore never went down big, and earlier in the year the couple times they did this year they lost.
Tennessee's defenders were pretty public about their plan after the game: clog the middle and force Lamar to throw deep and to the sides. It's not his strength, it never has been, and for most of the year that didn't matter because they were leading in games. But when you're trailing the opponent is positively
giddy to give you 4-6 ypc between the 20's, because the clock is your enemy. I saw a tweet (that I can't find right now) that showed how many drives the Ravens had that ended in Tennessee territory, and it was like 8, but they scored 12 points. It was a masterful defensive performance against a type of offense that looks unstoppable when it's working but is very flawed.
I'm bummed I never put this down anywhere, but I had them pegged as one-and-done since I found out they were resting starters in week 17. This team just screamed "Peyton's Colts" to me, regular season monster, playoff paper tiger.

I will give you credit on the Ravens prediction in retrospect, Stupac!
I've been skeptical of the Ravens all year. It just seemed to me you can't beat the best teams with QB run options. Reminded me how Nebraska and Oklahoma used to crush the Big 12 and then would go play Miami in the Orange Bowl and lose because it was the first real defense they faced all year. When the run was stuffed, and they needed to score quickly, their passing games weren't potent enough to do it.
