so far they have fired seven people, seems like that might indicate a "lack of institutional control"....

Well, firing them may be an act of institutional regaining control.

I didn’t know Jovan was fired.  Well I’ll be damned.

Apparently, prosecutors have been dropping hints....

A recent LA Times piece points to supporting CTcard's perspective:

I'm thinking that when you task the person who was part of the fraud with investigating it, that shows either profound cluelessness or lack of institutional control.

Quote:In March 2018, several high schools had contacted USC, puzzled that certain students were being admitted as recruited athletes. Marymount High School, attended by actress Lori Loughlin’s two daughters, “doesn’t think either of the students are serious crew participants,” a USC employee wrote in an email.
Donna Heinel, the third-ranking administrator in USC’s athletic department, was asked to investigate. She reported back the next day: Loughlin’s younger daughter rowed for a “competitive” club and USC’s coach “thinks she has talent,” she wrote.

Yup, she has talent, all right.

And you were joking about Jovan, right. He was the first out the door, I think.

RE: OT: more firings at USC - Farm93 - 01-15-2020

USC will probably see some sanctions when this is done.

It is very hard for me to believe that other programs are not using the investigations in their recruiting pitch.  I understand in these cases the investigations impact the recruiting more than the ultimate sanctions.  That's probably true here too.

So if that's true I hope USC stays under investigation for a few years.  It is definitely a complicated situation at USC that might take some time to properly sort out.

No, I had somehow missed the *tragic* news of his firing.

Little need of the irony font for me. Though sarcasm font may have been more apropos, and still unnecessary.
