Men's Gymnastics - Treefence - 01-12-2020

I apologize if there is already a thread, but Men's Gymnastics started their season last night against Cal and performed very well.  As we all know they won the championship last year, led by now Sophomore Brody Malone.  They've added by far the best recruiting class, and possibly another generational talent in Brandon Briones.  Broines finished ahead of Malone in the all around crown, with a score of 82.4.  Malone finished with 78.85, and fellow Sophomore Ian Gunther finished with 78.8.  Below is a season preview for Men's Gymnastics, as well as the write up about yesterday.  Should be a fun season.

Great to read and please keep posting on gymnastics

Men's Gymnastics - akiddoc - 01-17-2020

Last year, Stanford signed the top class in the country. It is so strong that it could be the top class ever signed by any school ever. And sure enough, Brandon Briones, the top recruit in the country came through in his first meet to win the all-around, floor, rings, and vault competitions vs Cal and won MPSF gymnast of the week honors. He probably won't make the Olympic team this year, but if he stays healthy he will in 4 years. Cal isn't really competitive with Stanford right now, but Briones beat his teammate Brody Malone, who was the top all-around gymnast in the NCAA championships last year.

Stanford hosted their open last night and put up a very impressive overall score of 420.05, well ahead of Oklahoma (408.2), and Cal (400.7).  This was the first real test for Stanford, Oklahoma came in ranked #1.  We had the top 4 all around scores, lead once again by Freshman Brandon Briones.  The other three were Gunther (Sophomore), Loos (Freshman), and Malone (Sophomore).  It's pretty incredible the talent this team has, particular their underclassmen, all four of them have now qualified for team USA at the winter cup.

They will undoubtedly rise to #1 and be favored to win a NC.  All Right Now!

Wow, very impressive!

RE: Men's Gymnastics - cardfan77 - 01-26-2020

Stanford continues to add to the talent poll. Gymnasts ranked 1, 9, and 11 are all committed to Stanford. That’s a lot of all around talent with Malone, Briones, Loos, Gunter and incoming top recruit Walker who is the defending US junior champion. Go Card!

Nope. The NCAA uses an average of all scores ranking at this point of the season. Stanford still ranked second. It doesn't mean anything though. Barring injury Stanford will be ranked first at the end of the season and will win the national championship.
