Covid-19 Stories you know about - OutsiderFan - 03-19-2020
Let's create a post for each case we know about personally. Then, when we have updates, let's edit the same post, so we have a record of all the different cases we know about. I'll go first.
I have a friend with a friend (Karen). She has an 18 year old son and a husband who recently had a heart procedure and is diabetic.
Karen went to her son's high school on March 11. On March 12 the school sent Karen an alert saying the parent of a student who was at the school on March 10 had tested positive for Covid-19, so the school would be closing.
Today (March 19), Karen told my friend she is feeling lung congestion after having a dry cough and fever yesterday. Karen called the doctor's office and they effectively told her to do nothing and stay home until she can't breathe and needs an ambulance.
Two hours later, Karen reports her son can't get out of bed. He is running a fever and coming in and out of consciousness.
My friend told Karen to call 911 for both her and her son.
Will update this post as I hear more developments.
March 18
- Karen develops fever and cough
March 19
- Karen feels lung congestion and feeling some difficulty breathing
- Karen calls doctor and is told to do nothing until she basically can't breathe
- Karen's 18yo son develops fever, and can't get out of bed, going in and out of consciousness
- Friend advises her to call 911
- She didn't call 911 and instead arranged for Doctor to come to her house
March 20
- Doctor visited Karen and son at their home and concluded they both likely have Covid-19
- Karen (has been hospitalized with pneumonia before, making her more susceptible), asked about getting tested and CT scan
- Doctor said they are out of tests and there is no room for CT scans at hospital (I don't understand this)
- Doctor prescribed something for her to get at pharmacy that her husband is getting
- Ambulance personnel have been told not to take people to hospital unless they are in some grave condition Karen isn't at yet
- Unfortunately, son is actually now worse and is being called in to see doctor (who has been his Pediatrician) for likely hospital admission
