Grr. I was hoping that it would be more revealing given the recent news out of Stanford. Alas, it is not to be!

She did mention Anna Wilson when talking about how the players are training on their own.
Quote:Anna (Wilson) is where her brother is and he’s training. She has a court and a football field to run on.

I was just going to mention that myself. Maybe I am reading too much into it, but why would she mention Anna directly regarding training if she wouldn't be coming back? I hope that is the correct interpretation!

As another tea leaf to read, today's Merc had this tidbit in an article that was mostly about Anna's recent ESPN story:
Quote:Wilson had applied for a fifth-year of eligibility because she played only 48 minutes in her freshman season while recovering from symptoms of brain trauma. A school official said Tuesday that Stanford has received notice about Wilson’s petition but has yet to announce the result publicly.

Tara has become extremely guarded with what she says to the press of late. I really enjoy Rayburn's reporting, but even he must be getting tired of Tara sharing so little about her players.
Take Wilson for instance. Surly by now the NCAA has ruled on her appeal? Why has there been no public announcement?

The program generally is much more guarded now. About 10 years ago I interviewed Tara multiple times over about a three year period when I was dabbling in writing for another online site. She was more open then I think, but it wasn't like secrets were being aired or anything. It was better back then. Press could get an answer to most things, some off the record, but at least you'd have a clue.
I don't know why it should be a state secret what Wilson's status is. If she is still waiting on a decision or has one and is deciding what to do, it's all normal and fine. Maybe COVID life has caused her to change her mind about coming back if she is indeed able to do that?
Whatever is best for her we are all for.
I understand the coaches may not want fans "prying" into the lives of players, but purely basketball stuff is fair game. Rumors start in the absence of info. Rumors are often worse than just putting the facts out there, even if the facts are just that Wilson is weighing her options or is still waiting on a decision or whatever.

Partly that, and partly that they are afraid something they say may be taken out of context, go viral on social media and lead to all kinds of undeserved opprobrium.
