OK, this is getting pretty uncomfortable. We can all deal with what we know is going to happen, but when we have no idea it's impossible to make prudent decisions. Now here comes research showing Covid-19 wrecks immune systems.

Another alarmist mainstream media report. Internal organs on autopsy looking like people who have SARS and AIDS is a statement that makes no sense. Maybe this virus interacts in a novel way with the immune system, but as is pointed out in the news article, it isn't taking over those cells to propagate which is what makes HIV such a problem and so difficult to cure.

Wow, when did the "South China Morning Post" become a mainstream media source in the U.S.?! Agree that this was a little overly alarmist, although the last few paragraphs raise an interesting issue:

Some critically ill patients also experienced cytokine storms, where the immune system overreacts and attacks healthy cells.
But why and how the coronavirus triggers that effect remains poorly understood.

You may already know this, but the SCMP is the newspaper of record for Hong Kong, so I would certainly classify it as mainstream media in that is is writing for broad consumption by laymen, as opposed to a medical journal.
