FB Seat Selection Tool: I will see my seat neighbors again! (someday) - Snorlax94 - 05-13-2020

Out of curiosity I took a look at the Stanford football seat selection tool. I was pleasantly surprised at how many season ticket members renewed!

I guess it's possible they're hiding a bunch of seats to make things look better, but last year my desirable section (as close as you can get without donating money) had only a few stray seats available, and this year they had maybe 11% available, which is a way better than I was expecting.

I would imagine the harder it is to be grandfathered into your location, the more likely you'd be to stick around to keep it, so maybe up in the  200 level corners I would imagine things are emptier.

I wasn't planning to move, but I was considering it, if my neighbors hadn't renewed -- but all of them did.=)

I will see them again! I don't know when fans will be back -- maybe 2021 -- but we'll be there!

It appears that everyone around me renewed, which is nice. I'm looking forward to seeing them again, whenever that may be.

If they go to social distancing this year, your seats will probably near the top of the upper deck. (fine print in the email)

What would attendance look like (don't mean numbers) if only season-ticket holders were allowed in the stadium? Everyone spread out? Who would be required to move and where?

I don’t see a social distancing scenario working, so I don’t see fans returning this season. The only possible fan scenario I see are maybe permitting a handful of students in, maybe a few hundred, extremely spaced out.

Usually I think there are 20-30k stms, so if this year there are 14k, in a stadium for 56k, you could spread them out to every other seat in every other row.

I would not attend under those conditions. People yell at football games, for a prolonged period of tome, in a semi-enclosed space. it is intrinsically unsafe and, aside from the student and YA sections, I swear the median age for stms is in the low sixties.

The upshot is that our team is more ready for this sort of scenario than places like Oregon and Washington.

I can't find the Seat Selection Tool site.

Can someone post a link?

It is in the email sent to you with your seat selection date.

I received my email Tuesday and my seat selection date is 5/19.

So Stanford needs to adjust to play football in whisper quiet stadiums?

The good news is that we'll need to adjust much, much less than other teams.
