We have a grad transfer - BobK - 05-18-2020

Ah sorry to excite Football fans. It’s a 1:50 800 track guy from a Maryland university

I find an 800 m runner far more exciting than a football player, so thanks, Bob. I'm a big time t&f fan.

Cmon Bob, you just had to do me like that!!!

We continue to see that grad transfers are indeed possible, though rare. I think I figured out who this transfer might be but am not sure if you're keeping mum on purpose so will hold off on speculating.

I did it to attract attention on a dull day and to catch you Samuel. Lol. Yes a grad transfer so rare coming to us

Miles Smith ftom u of Maryland Baltimore

Do you have another possibility Samuel.

:)

Brady Snelson from U of Maryland, won the award for highest GPA among all male student-athletes at the University this year (RS Jr). Computer Engineering major with a 3.85 GPA. I saw a 1:54 800 as a soph and a 4:24 mile this season (only competed in mile and 1000m so no recent 800 times). I don't follow track closely so have no idea how good that is.

Time is decent, but not great. American record, set last year, is 1 42 34. World record is 1 40 91.

RE: We have a grad transfer - fullmetal - 05-18-2020

Nothing says that track guys can't also be football guys, but I don't remember why IBS didn't pan out as a receiver, other than he got beat out on the depth chart by others.  I see he had two catches in 2016 and a few stats in 2017 as (presumably) a special teamer (coverage).

RE: We have a grad transfer - Phogge - 05-18-2020

NCAA record 1:43:25. 1:50 just Ok. Sure that Ernie Cunliffe ran faster 60 years ago.

Women's record still by Karmilla Kratochlova in 1983! 1:53:28. She of the most powerful female legs in history.

RE: We have a grad transfer - BobK - 05-18-2020

Cunliffe ran 1:46. Snelson mile time is not college ready

Stanford has lost 6 most grad transfers maybe all 6

No Stanford did t get an Olympian prospect but he’s good

An add: this Saturday at an unknown location but possibly near me 2 Stanford recruits and 5 other HSers will attempt to run 4 minute miles.
