MBB recruiting a Commit -
BobK - 05-30-2020
An offer has been made to another 2020:
Michael O'Connell
Blair Academy (Blairstown, NJ)
6-2 / 175
He averaged 18 points , 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Also he has signed an LOI for LaCrrosse at Maryland.
Doesn't mean Terry gone for sure, but???
Present scholarship count
Srs 2
Jrs 3
So. 4. Inc Keefe
Frosh. 4
That includes Terry
However could mean only 1-2 openings for 2021

There will be 3-4 openings for 2021. ODS and DD graduate, ZW declares. If Terry stays this year, he declares. Possible a junior follows the Isaac White path and grad transfers after 3 seasons as well for more PT? Fitzmorris?

Another clue. Team zoom meeting sans Terry despite the issue being discussed centered in Terry's hometown.

James Keefe and Brandon Angel were also not present. Are they off the team too?
(This was an impromptu meeting held during a school day. Stanford still in session.)

This is for 2020, enrollment this fall. Did they rush him through admissions because they know that Terry is gone?

Terry could still return. Need more PG-capable guards regardless.
Spencer Jones committed around the same time and Jaiden Delaire committed much later in their respective years. So if these guys were also "rushed through admissions," then I guess so.
We were going for a different signee and that didn't work out. There was always room for one more with James Keefe adhering to his original 2 year walk-on, 2 year scholarship deal. (He got a scholarship for last season because we had the space.)

One year walk on three year scholarship for Keefe. But yes possible this could be James’s walk on year
Interesting addition. Hope he can help if Terry goes pro. O’Connell is unranked but started for a good team

Thanks Bob.
Not to mention the entire starting lineup is D1 bound including a couple near-whales and another high profile player with a Stanford offer ('21 G Jaylen Blakes), and he still put up that excellent stat line.

Will he better than Isaac White next year? I wonder if Isaac would have transferred if he knew Terry was leaving and Ziaire was coming. 3 point shooting from the guards is a need of this team. Isaac could have had a more meaningful role on a better team in 20-21 had he stuck around and if Terry does indeed stay in the draft.

Noah Taitz will already be better than White. O'Connell is gravy.

We are going to be a young team next year, but the team is talented enough (even without Terry) that it should make the NCAA tourney. If Terry returns, we should be contending for the Pac-12 championship, and should make a fairly deep run into the tourney.

What was our highest ranked class in the glory years? Probably the classes that had the Collins or the Lopez twins?
I can't remember.

EDIT: see now that the Lopez class was ranked #15.
