1,300,000 initial unemployment claims - Mick - 07-16-2020
The Department of Labor released initial unemployment claims at 1.3 million today, higher than economist estimates.

The total number of people claiming benefits in all programs for the week ending June 27 was 32,003,330, a decrease of 433,005 from the previous week. There were 1,632,689 persons claiming benefits in all programs in the comparable week in 2019, about a 20x increase during the COVID pandemic.

I guarantee that if the Federal Reserve hadn't created trillions of dollars out of thin air to artificially prop up the stock market and buy garbage bonds and MBS, Stephen Moore would be the first one clamoring for government help way larger than an extra $600/mo for the unemployed he doesn't believe is necessary. The only reason he isn't groveling for that is because it already happened.
