If it works in humans, it could be great! However, many things work in vitro that don't work at all in people. In any case, it is very, very early days with this therapy. The odds of it being tested and available before a vaccine are quite long IMHO. However, if there are problems with developing an effective vaccine, this therapy could be a big deal.

I imagine the testing would be as extensive as for a vaccine.   Maybe even more so because this is a very different therapy (than any I'm aware of).

It isn't quite clear to me how this would work.   Would you spray this like DDT over the Mardi Gras crowds to kill off virus in the air?  Have an air "freshener" in a bar's bathroom puff out nanobodies by the quadrillions every minute?   Use it like an inhaler while in a risky situation?   Use it the morning after potential exposure, hoping that it can somehow get to the bazillion copies of virons being churned out by already-infected cells.  Treat known cases with it (perhaps on their masks) so that it is also released with the virus-laden particles, so anyone nearby enough to get the virus also gets the nanobodies?  Is it expected to be applied only via air, or will it be added to the blood or other tissues to try to block wider infection in each person already infected.

There will be concerns that this may have the same allure of a morning-after pill.  You can willfully engage in what you know as risky behavior because no one will deny you access to this treatment.

Imagine cocaine laced with this... or allegedly laced with it.

For sure the FDA would be more "vigilant" in granting an approval. They know a good deal about vaccines, so som things are "givens". Some of the vaccines are being created in new ways, which does add points of scrutiny, but the method of action is still traditional. Using "nanobodies" ins AFAIK a totally novel therapy in humans. Lots and lots of questions to be answered. Lots and lots of dollars to be consumed.

No, it isn't clear how it would be delivered. Very, very early days. Lots of promising discoveries are made, evaluated, and discarded. Some (very few) are successful. These days anything that could possibly, maybe, hopefully, have any effect against COVID-19 is "big news". I suggest reply "That's nice" and move on.

I could see it used as an inhaler for high risk workers to be used every day or week or whatever interval appears to be needed.
