most undergrads will be remote -

We also are planning for almost all undergraduate instruction to be delivered remotely during the autumn quarter, with very limited in-person offerings. We will continue to offer on-campus housing for those undergraduates who were previously approved to be in residence due to a special circumstance and who continue to wish to be on campus, despite the plan for mostly remote instruction."

Which athletes will be allowed on campus? Only those with difficult home circumstances, similar to other undergrads?

Had I an incoming freshman, I would advise her to defer... Freshman year of college remote? No way.

Here is the update from Stanford on freshman gap years:
In light of Stanford's recent news about the fall quarter, we understand that some students may want to reconsider their plans. To that end, we have re-opened the option to request a gap year for first year and transfer students.
If you would like to take a gap year, you must submit your gap year request through your Stanford portal by Wednesday, August 19 at 11:59 p.m. (PDT). Please note that first year and transfer students admitted from the waitlist are unable to take a gap year.

So if McKee takes a gap year he will enter school in the Fall as a freshman eligible for the draft.

That's true, Phogge, but with Sanders in the fold wasn't McKee going to redshirt this year anyway?

Irrespective of Sanders, McKee is most likely not in football shape post-mission, so would've probably required a RS anyways for that reason.

Three years
out of high school. I don't think there has ever been a LDS RS frosh who has declared before, though.

I had dinner last week with an incoming international freshman. She told me then that if she could not live on campus, she would return to her home country for remote Stanford classes. Nonetheless, she was excited about beginning her Stanford experience.
Geaux Cardinal!

Wondering who was the oldest Stanford player. I think Lacy Atkinson was older than Craig Landis but there may have been someone after the war who was older.
Bobbbbbbbbb? Can’t ask Liebendorfer.

Thankfully, our family is past all that. In speaking with my friends who have college-aged children, the general feeling I get is that frosh will tend to defer if at all possible, sophs to a much lesser extent, and my experience has been that seniors are going to suck it up. Junior year is a bit of a wild card.
