Football's Back! - cardcrimson - 08-14-2020

The first high school game was played last night in Utah. Fans, cheerleaders, and even touchdowns. Davis took out Herriman 24-20. Nice to see.

And how many infections in the next 2-14 days?

depends on whether there was a post-game indoors party as that is where teenagers are getting infected.

I don't know . . . but am confident that if any kid going to either HS (or any person attending the game) tests positive, that we'll all read about it in the headlines.  So stay tuned!

"Nice to see" ?   I assume you're being sarcastic and/or facetious.

Not at all. I sincerely hope they pulled it off safely, don't you?

I, too, hope they pulled it off safely. No marching band, 25% capacity, reserved seats with distancing, tickets sold online and scanned to facilitate contact tracing, etc. According to Herriman High School's website, classes don't start until August 24, so I guess we'll really know the feasability of fall football in SW Salt Lake County after that date.

I have a different P.O.V. I say if "safely" is the watchword, do the right thing and DON"T PLAY THE GAMES THIS YEAR.  I mean, if health and safety is your priority. If it's not, well, roll the dice. I wish them well. And wish the same for everyone with whom they come in contact.

I mean,  the 7-day rolling average of cases in Utah is 371 per day.  By comparison, yesterday, there were 518 cases in Santa Clara County alone.
