Dickerson is the Giant that falsely tested positive. Testing mistakes are going to happen. But man. His wife is in late stages of her pregnancy. I imagine she didn’t need that stressor.
What galls me the most however, is that according to Mike Krukow a national reporter put out that Dickerson had attended a gathering of family and friends. Dickerson said that it was untrue. Krukow noted how irresponsible putting that out was.
Here’s Dickerson comment:
“I do want to bring to light the fact that false reporting did happen in my situation that had extremely negative effects on me and my family,” Dickerson said. “A report from USA Today saying that ‘the player who remains unidentified told several members of the Giants traveling party that he believed he was possibly infected by a family member or friend in San Diego.’ That is completely false.
“Those kinds of statements lead to a steamrolling effect that caused my wife, who is 39 weeks pregnant, to deal with a lot of stuff she did not deserve to deal with. It was not easy.
“When you’re dealing with pregnancy and COVID-19, it is not a good thing to make the assumption that I came in and went and broke protocol and saw family and friends when I’m only permitted to see my wife and she is the only person I saw, and she has been quarantining and on bed rest. It caused a lot of problems, a lot of hate to come towards you and it was kind of unwarranted.”
Some very simple questions I have for the reporter: 1 How was it relevant that he supposedly attended a family/friend gathering? The implication of course, is that’s how he got Covid. But was there any evidence of that. In other words, did anyone that was supposedly there test positive. (Or was this simply a way of showing the player in a bad light)
2. Did the reporter contact Dickerson for confirmation?
If (1) there was no one at that so called gathering that was positive and (2) they did not seek confirmation from Dickerson, it borders on defamation.
