I pretty much saw this ethical dilemma months ago.

Recently , I was shocked to learn that SEC, Big12 and ACC teams seem to now have some discretion when it comes to announcing COVID cases on teams.   I can only hope they are applying some set of uniform testing prior to returning to practice & play, but I am not sure at this point.

As most under 25 year-olds in good health do OK for some D1 football coaches the real worry seems to be an important star player getting COVID immediately prior to an important game.   Clemson, Alabama, LSU and a few others seem to have less to worry about now as so many on the team were COVID positive recently.    Presumably those coaches have seen very little medium-term or long-term health concerns that impact their ability to play after a few weeks.

I wasn't a big fan of any form of player bill of rights prior to 2020, but after watching what has happened this season I am 100% on the player rights bandwagon now.    There are just too many dollars in the system for me to just assume coaches and athletic departments will do the right thing for the players.   The players might not do the right thing either, but at least they should have a seat at the table.

As bonkers as LSU observation is to me, it is very consistent with the type of thing that is happening in the South.   The FSU tailgate and game attendance were beyond my comprehension honestly, but apparently those in the South are pretty confident all will be fine.
