OT: Minnesota Twins -

Lost today. That’s 17 straight playoff losses. Has to be a record.

I’m sorry. Hang in there. I won’t mention the cumulative score of that 0-18 ........ Wait till next year. A refrain every Giants fan in the 60’s knew all too well.

Not sure what the common theme for the above list is but I'll add. =)

Roy Sievers. Literally never heard of him, 300+ Hrs. Mickey Vernon. Sam Rice. Joe Cronin. Camilo Pascual. Bert Blyleven.
For years, the Giants were terrible. 27 years between pennants. I always felt better if I thought about their great players.

Sievers one of my favorite players
Winning baseball isn’t terrible. Yes not always winning but most years
RE: OT: Minnesota Twins -

Sievers part of the group of Fifties and Sixties hitters who could make millions today but nobody remembers them.
Gus Zernial, Gus Bell, Wally Post, Jim Gentile, Vern Stephens, Leon Wagner, etc.

Jim Katt. 25 years. 283-237. 3.45 Career ERA. 16 gold gloves. I think Katt deserves to be in HOF.
Nathan trade was probably Sabeans worst. Further, I always thought part of the reason he was traded is the Organization was pissed at his poor playoff performance. And perhaps attitude during that postseason

Agreed, in retrospect a very bad trade. I can imagine what Sabean was thinking: 26 year old former All Star catcher in his prime with
three years of arbitration remaining and he'd hit .312 the year before. Giants had Torrealba, who was a mediocre player. Giants gave up Nathan who had a good '03 (12-4 as a middle reliever pitching 78 games, but was hurt and had a terrible '00, '01 and '02 and had never showed much promise in the minors), Boof Bonser was terrible and Liriano was a sub-.500 starter.
Pierzynski was a jerk. He punched a Giants staffer in the crotch. Ozzie Guillen said about him, when AJ was on the White Sox "If AJ's on the other team, you hate him. If he's on
your team, you hate him a little less."
Two different views of the Pierzynski trade:
The Perfect Crime:
http://twinsdaily.com/_/minnesota-twins-news/minnesota-twins/the-perfect-crime-a-look-back-at-the-twins-trade-for-joe-nathan-r6040
Still a good trade:
https://www.mccoveychronicles.com/2013/11/14/5104890/a-j-pierzynski-trade-giants-twins-liriano-nathan-boof-jackass-case-studies
My opinion, it was a terrible trade.

My Cubbies got eliminated quickly. I thought they'd advance a little farther.

None of the eight teams left are from the central division in either league.

Still bitter at how they determined the tiebreaker. Made no sense.
