Money is the reason none on the Pac 12 channel. All on an espn or FS 1. And that’s good for Athletic Departments

Considering that nobody has Pac-12 that doesn’t have ESPN and FS1, and more people have ESPN and FS1, it’s great news. I switched from Xfinity to YouTube TV in the spring - they have B1G, SEC and ACC networks, but no Pac-12.
So I’m all for it and hope games are never aired on Pac-12 again. But I’m probably going to need to figure something out for basketball...

Does this mean there will be some Pac-12 games not televised at all?
I was listening to Tolbert & Brooks talking with Rod Gilmore today. Started listening late, but it sounded to me like they were talking about Pac-12 teams having 9am games potentially, and that sounded like a concession for TV to have Pac-12 games at Noon ET. Is this really happening, or am I completely missing something here?

Oh yes. Week 1 ASU at USC already announced to kick off at 9 am.

The P12's experiment with a 9 am kickoff was viewed favorably by Fox. No more are planned for this year, but we can expect more 9 am games next year.

I dropped by the 9 am USC-ASU game last Saturday. One of the commentators suggested that it would be good for the Pac-12 to get more appreciation in the rest of the country, by being on TV when most of the country is watching. In context, re was referring to rankings, playoffs, and Voldemort (oops ... that flashy trophy awarded to the best player at the end of the regular season).

There is an opportunity cost in play here. There are a number of conferences that Fox can use to fill the Noon (Eastern) time slot. Some of those conferences could get close to the USC-ASU ratings level and would not need to feature 2 different top 10 TV markets.
There are no other programs that will allow their players to start a game in the 11PM (Eastern) time slot, and therefore using precious potential 11PM (Eastern) content at Noon (Eastern) is not the optimal allocation.
It was a fun experiment because there are no fans in the stands this year, but we won't see it again at least not for conference games. In early September when all 12 teams host non-conference games we might see Colorado or Utah get a 10AM (local time) game on the Pac-12 Network if their opponent is an FCS team.

One benefit of the 9 am kickoff on Fox is that USC-ASU highlights were splashed on TV screens throughout the day. It helped, of course, that the game had a big name with an improbable, disastrous, car-wreck ending.
Pac-12 After Dark is fun for those of us on the West coast, but few East of the Rockies are paying attention because they are asleep when the games are played. Plus, they don't even pay attention to the highlights when they wake up Sunday morning, because they've turned their focus to the NFL.
I think it's worth trying more 9 am/10 am games this year with teams that have a (remote) chance at making the playoff, i.e. USC and Oregon. It's not that hard of an adjustment for the players, many who are up by 6 am to workout/practice anyway.

This season we only have a few weekends left to schedule out for this season. Oregon v Washington is the only game that would really be of any interest to those outside of the Pac-12. I guess Oregon could play every game at 9AM since that is the team college football fans in other conferences fear might take a slot, but if they play at 1PM or 4PM Pacific time that will give them the exposure the Pac-12 needs.
In future years, the best teams will not be at 9AM because the best teams get assigned to those preferred Pac-12 broadcasting slots.
