If surgery needed and with Vicini in a boot having a chronic foot injury, that pushes 6'2" freshman Anabelle Smith into the starting line-up. This spring is looking like a rebuilding season to me.

Does anyone know if they are practicing indoors or outdoors? I played on a surface of volleyball panels laid out on a tennis court. I didn't like it. It's not as flat and consistent as an indoor court.

With the season still 3 months away I wouldn’t worry at this point.
Stanford was practicing a month ago on those pads on the Stanford tennis courts and stopped and moved to the rugby field after just a couple of days.

Looking at her Instagram, she definitely had knee surgery. If it is ligament she won't be playing this spring.

Thanks for posting. It sounds like they are practicing indoors at a club facility. She said the situation in San Diego is "less than ideal". When will Santa Clara allow indoor practices to start.

Stanford WVB is usually quite secretive about injuries. Bobbk will you be able to find out about her injury and estimated return date. If Stanford had her available the end of the spring season, there's a chance they could do well in the NCAA tournament.

Coaches are not considered "covered entities" and thus not bound by HIPAA (note spelling). That being said, we should nonetheless try to respect the private medical information of our players. I have no issues with coaches keeping mum on injuries.

It might actually have more to do with FERPA than HIPAA.
