Trump Calls Fauci ‘a Disaster’ and Shrugs Off Virus as Infections Soar (NYT) - JustAnotherFan - 10-19-2020

Trump is proof that American exceptionalism is a joke on us.

President Trump attacked Dr. Anthony S. Fauci as “a disaster” on Monday and said, despite signs that the nation was headed toward another coronavirus peak, that people were “tired” of hearing about the virus from “these idiots” in the government."

Craig Venter gives his viewpoint on Trump vs Fauci

Dr. J. Craig Venter @JCVenter
If trump had one tenth the intelligence of tony fauci 200,000 people might not have died.  The covid/trump tragedy is the nations worst ever.

Trump is correct that people are tired of hearing about the virus. However, many of the people realize that knowing about the virus and how to fight it, limited though that may be, is useful to their health. Some other people, like the POTUS, don't want to hear any bad news and refuse to act upon it when delivered. That is a good part of our problem in the US, and in the Western World it would seem. Yea, it would be great if it just went away, but so far it shows no signs of dong that.

It is concerning that our current POTUS really doesn't want to deal with reality. The good news is that we can change the POTUS. Unfortunately, we still will have the large number of people who in effect behave like he does. This group is of all political stripes, left, right, etc. The reasons they want to ignore reality may differ, but the consequences to society are the same. Changing the POTUS isn't going to help this much, if at all IMHO.
