TreeCast w/ESPN's "Stanford" Steve Coughlin - troyc - 10-21-2020

New TreeCast is up! Tidbits & news from Stanford's training camp, some of David Shaw's latest thoughts, and an intriguing add to Stanford men's basketball's schedule. (though, if you listened to a certain TreeCast episode back in April, not a surprising addition at all...)

Special guest is ESPN's "Stanford" Steve Coughlin! The former Cardinal TE shares his notes on the college football season so far, gives his read on Stanford, tells about his last visit to The Farm for the 20th reunion of the 1999 Rose Bowl team, and takes us inside a wild year for him and "SportsCenter with Scott Van Pelt."

Check it out! Then subscribe, rate, and review. Thank you for listening!

The TreeCast with Troy Clardy: Hanging With "Stanford" Steve (October 21, 2020)

Troy - have you approached Ben Muth about appearing on a TreeCast? Listeners might welcome perspective from a former OL who has remained involved with the game. I would like to think that he still cares about Stanford football. Plus he probably has some Harbaugh stories.

And a question for you to consider asking Pritchard or Shaw - Stanford's conference opponents (and Notre Dame) seem to be very well acquainted with Stanford's offense. While it has evolved, much of the offense is similar year to year. So familiar in fact that we hear that opponent defenses are calling out Stanford's plays before the ball is snapped. We regularly hear opponent defenses say after playing Stanford, "they did not do anything special, nothing we were not prepared for." Do the coaches consider changes to the offense during the offseason to try to keep opponents off balance and make Stanford tougher to prepare for?

Sam Schwartzstein is another former OL-man who is active and cares about Stanford football.

Funny y'all mention those two names...was thinking about both of them not too long ago. Would love to have either or both of them on at some point!

Appreciate the question suggestion, too.
