The Santa Clara U Stanford connection - BobK - 10-28-2020

Softball has a grad transfer from Santa Clara. She hit 371 last year

The greatest basketball player in Sunnyvale HS (closed for years now) history is Eric Paulson early 60s. Eric is in the Santa Clara Hall of Fame. Also a great principal at Carmel Homestead and Cupertino HS’s
Eric’s twin granddaughters are now Frosh on the Stanford Soccer team

When SCU closed down their football program, one of the players transferred to Stanford (can't recall his name).

And of course, there's Zach Ertz and his SCU soccer alum wife Julie.  Here's their story:

I know a bunch of football alums from SC. They are still pissed that the school dropped the sport.

I bought the house of the QBs family
I almost put you Mick In The heading

RE: The Santa Clara U Stanford connection - fullmetal - 10-29-2020

One of my Stanford football alum friends married a SCU alumna.  Personally, I had no connection with any SCU folks and was completely unaware of the extent to which SCU students came and partied on campus.

Bob I think Eric had a couple of younger brothers who went to our HS?  They were swimmers.

Right, I know several dozen, and they weren't happy about it.  At the same time...it wasn't super high quality football and the home crowds were inconsistent at the end.  There were a few good players, for sure, but most weren't.  Probably did the right thing.

Qwerty Eric has a younger brother at Sunnyvale. Very good player also

I believe that, in the not-too-distant past, Stanford men's BB hired Dick Davey, former SCU head coach, and also had a transfer from SCU (the name escapes me at the moment).

There's a lot more to the Dick Davey story.  I won't put it on a public board, but there's more than meets the eye here.
