Mark Meadows positive for Covid - dabigv13 - 11-06-2020

Attended Trump's superspreader maskless Mad King rally on early Wednesday morning, along with numerous other election events with Trump and his staff. No surprise he got it, considering how he's behaved in the midst of the pandemic (hosting a large wedding during the pandemic, never wearing masks). Ultimately as Goose points out, personal responsibility is paramount in avoiding the virus.

Wonder if Trump demands another round of regeneron?

Meadows apparently did not get the memo.

Another superspreader event at the White House.  Meadows is one of five known positive cases.

And I had to laugh at this one:

(Jacobs broke the story, as well as the one about Pence).

I'm concerned that President-Elect Biden will catch the disease when he meets with President Trump at the White House for the traditional briefing, or whatever they call it.  Not from the president himself, but from one of the many people there who have been exposed to it.

Do you really think there will be a traditional briefing? I don't. Trump and the senior staff will vacate the building with absolutely no communication with Biden's team. Any briefings will be much lower in the hierarchy.

Gaetz now too.

I don't think there will be any "pass down" of ideas because it is unclear to mey there are any to pass down. Factual briefings from people who actually know something will be superior anyway. I just hope we don't replace one form of ideological reality warping with another different one.

Biden was there for the Obama Administration just 4 years ago.   He certainly knows most of the people that know what is going on in the USA and around the world.   Most of the career officials will still be in place, so get the deal from the folks that know.

For example, why get a transition briefing from Dr. Atlas on COVID?   Getting updates from Dr. Birx, Dr. Fauci and other career officials will be much better.

Alternative Facts and Fake News were not really everyday concepts pre-2017, so I am hopefully we get back to different perspectives on the facts rather than using different facts.

FWIW - I don't think Biden could effectively sell a story he knows is not real.   Given his limitations as a storyteller, he probably will be locked into truth telling even if it hurts his political standing.

Not sure that documenting every new case in the administration adds much, but probably worth mentioning that Ben Carson (head of HUD) has COVID-19.

Yeah, I see a bunch of factcheck examples.   We all know THAT is not a good place to start given our current POTUS' standing with such sites.
Those falsehoods and lies happen for public speakers.  The real concern is if a politician sticks to those stories even after hundreds of media outlets around the world tell you to your face that you are telling mistruths.

For example, COVID is going away, millions of votes were illegal, or the 2020 Election was fraudulent.
That's the level of lie I was referring to in my comment.

"Jim Bob Dog Catcher loves me" when Jim Bob says on twitter he hates an official.   I can take that level of misstatement/lying.

Thanks for the reassurance that we might get to normal Pinocchio levels from the POTUS soon.   Can't wait.

I'd be happy if the Democrats came together after this election, much less the country...

Rahm or Zeke?

RE: Mark Meadows positive for Covid - fullmetal - 11-11-2020

Rahm had initial consideration and got a lot of pushback, but Zeke made it in.  Not a great look to say, "oh just pick the brother then" even if he is qualified on merit.

Another positive test in the WH

https://www.nytimes.com/live/2020/11/11/world/covid-19-coronavirus-live-updates/another-white-house-official-tests-positive-after-attending-an-election-night-event

I saw a tweet saying two new cases, but I don't know who the other one is.
