Wonder if he has any regrets, after destroying his reputation and contributing to the deaths of thousands of people within a span of a few months? Whatever he may have done in his life, how he acted on this will forever be his legacy.
And to be fair to Scott Atlas, he was no particular foul genius unilaterally responsible for our national failure of a federal response. Any stooge with an advanced doctorate and some sort of reputation in a medical field would have done as long as they parroted Trump's thinking and stayed in line. Atlas was just the stooge who said yes.

After his resignation he was on Fox praising states that are opening up schools during the worst of the pandemic. So no, he is clueless.

I was even going to post in my original post that all the eventual Fox News hits in the world won't make up for it. He'll at least get a steady stream of those. Reading his bio on Wikipedia, seems clinical practice is not really his thing these days. He'll get plenty of airtime to rail against Biden's health care policies now. Maybe this was all just a smart business decision for a guy looking to get on the conservative media gravy train. And a couple hundred thousand people died along the way.

So as the consequences of these positions and statements come to fruition — infection rates are rocketing, ICUs are filling, death rates are increasing — what does he do? He walks away.
I guess dealing with this horrific mess and crisis that he exacerbated is someone else’s problem. And he walks away making it sound like he was some kind of tragic, sacrificing hero. Except the sacrifice in illness and suffering will all be someone else’s.
Every day as ICUs fill more and more, the media should ask — where is Dr Atlas now? Now that the consequences of his policies are turning to disaster, shouldn’t this “world reknown medical expert” — as he described himself — be helping out, rolling up his sleeves and trying to save some lives?
This administration is in power for 7 more weeks. Americans are dying, people are losinng jobs, businesses are closing and it feels like the executive branch has just walked off.

Well, considering that Anthony Faucci went on NPR advocating opening schools, that's not going to be where my criticism towards Atlas will focus.

I happen to agree with Fauci here, and have long said that schools should be the last thing to close. In fact, in Europe, where several countries went into a lockdown, schools were kept open, and cases are starting to come down. It seems bizzare to suggest we open schools even as everything else is closing, so I accept that schools probably won't reopen until after this wave crests, but the data has repeatedly pointed towards schools generally being safe.
