Helfrich - Phogge - 12-06-2020

Thought he did a good job on color. He definitely knows both teams as he competed against them. In general however I think it’s not necessary to make a comment between every play. Madden started the trend. Back in the dark ages Paul Christman was the best. He made a comment only when it was proper.

I thought he was really good as well.

Here’s a crazy thought: hire him to help out Shawvita over the summer. Oregon had some teams that executed beautifully on offense while he was there. I think it would be really interesting to hear what he has to say about all of Stanford’s “we didn’t execute” issues, particularly at the beginning of most seasons...

Interestingly enough, one of Washington's players attributed the loss to them not executing properly. Pretty much a stock phrase these days when you lose.

John McKay owns the phrase.

At Oregon he only shined with the leftovers of Chip Kelly. His best role was as loyal protege executing Kelly's ideas. He absorbed Kelly's recruits along with his innovations, but as time went by and everybody else figured out what Kelly was doing, he floundered. His W-L went steadily down, year by year. I don't think he'd be a great hire for Stanford.

That's common.

Don't care about his coaching, I think he may have broadcasting chops.
