Harbaugh gets contract extension - 82lsju - 01-09-2021

extension has lower base pay ($4m) but enough incentives ($3.475m max for any one year) that if UM wins the CFP he'll make about the same money he did this year (almost $8m)

in his current time at UM he would not have achieved any of the Big incentives (win CFP, spot in the CFP, win Big 10 East, win Big 10) in the new contract, I don't recall if he had the same incentives in his original contract.

Not that it matters to me at all. But it reads like 2021 may be a pay cut even in the best case scenario (he made $8mln in 2020 and had a year remaining), assuming 2021 was comparable in the old contract. Good for him that he got the extension though.

Correction: financially, Harbaugh apparently collects max $8mln if UM fires him after the 2021 season ($4mln buyout). :)
